[Y/N] had been on the wall when the snakes broke through, sending her falling to the ground. No doubt her ankle was twisted, if not broken, but she stood up and went back into battle like nothing had even happened. She was horrified at how many of the other ninja around were her falling, sacrificing their lives. Nevertheless, she had to keep going. She had to. It wasn't until a kunai had pierced her from the side and she lost her breath did she finally hit the ground and stay down.

In the aftermath, the lead jonin had reorganized and set new plans into motion. Some were to see to the villagers safety, some were to round up the remaining sand ninja, others were to scan through their fallen comrades and see if anyone was actually still alive. It was Izumo that found [Y/N] in the aftermath, barely breathing. When he realized she still had a pulse, weak and thready but present nonetheless, he called for help. "[Y/N]...? [Y/N]! Dammit! Kotetsu, we need medics over here now!" He remained with her, trying to do a quick baseline assessment on her (as all ninja were trained to do) while Kotetsu ran to get medical help.

Everything after that was a blur. The medical ninja getting her onto a makeshift gurney and heading to the hospital. Shikamaru seeing her as they passed by and getting Asuma's attention. Asuma yelling out for her. His eyes were angry and puffy as he tried to push past everyone to follow her into the hospital. She was so tired. Most of her chakra had run up and almost just as much of her blood lost. She faintly groaned at Asuma before closing her eyes.

Word of [Y/N]'s condition spread like wildfire. If she doesn't make it, that would be two of the Sarutobi clan dead today... She's going to make it, right? Poor Asuma... What even happened? I thought she was in the arena... Kakashi tried to ignore the whispers. His heart pounded and almost flew out of his chest as he and his friends ran to the hospital as quickly as he could. Fuck his feelings. Fuck being afraid. He wanted her, she was his. He couldn't just let her go and walk away. He cursed himself for ever thinking that he could.
