"Life is too important to
Be taken seriously"
-Oscar Wilde
It was 11:30 when I smelt the scent of bacon. My stomach started growling loudly and I made my way downstairs. I peeked into the living room to see a group of people laughing and talking amongst themselves. I immediately locked eyes with one of the men sitting on the couch. I broke eye contact first and walked into the living room to where King was sitting.
Everybody had their eyes on me. No one said anything and it was annoying me. I smiled and turned my attention to the tv.
"You're Akashaa right?" One of the girls asked me.
I nodded my head and started playing with my fingers.
"Y'all making my new friend anxious and shit. Got her feeling all out of place. My name is Ryan. That's my brother Bryan. Yes, twins. That's Trenton, Lyric, Sa'Ryah and that mean looking nigga over there is Jahvon." He said.
I gave everyone a small wave, got up and made my way into the kitchen. I noticed some older lady in her late 40's early 50's mixing something in the kitchen.
"Hey, what's your name?" She asked me.
"Akashaa and you are?" I asked her after sitting down at the table.
"Tina. The lady that cooks for King. You can help yourself to whatever you want." She replied
I nodded my head and made my plate. King walked in and kissed Tina's forehead.
"Yeah yeah. Is your little friend up?" She asked. I knew she had to be referring to Devianna.
"My girl and yeah." King replied.
I looked at King and he was already staring at me. I told myself that I was going to let what happened earlier go. I'm not going to lie and say I didn't feel anything but like I said, I don't want to mess up nobody's relationship. I walked into the living room I told them it was time to eat and King's girl was the first one to hop up
"She talks to me so disrespectfully but is the first one to be in the kitchen to make her plate. She's so backwards." Tina said before walking towards the stairs.
"No but I'm about to go now. Anyone want to come with me?" I heard Trenton ask.
"Where you going?" I asked him.
"Walmart."
"I'll come with you. Just let me grab my shoes."
I walked upstairs to put my shoes on when King walked into my room. "I don't know if you have your own but you can take this card." He said.
"Handouts?" I asked, looking at him.
"No. I don't know what you have Akashaa. I know you though. You could need some shit but you wont ask 'cause you gon' find a way to get it yourself. This here isn't going to hurt me so use it as much as you please." He said, holding the card up.
I took it out of his hand. "Thank you D."

Me and Trenton sat in a comfortable silence the whole car ride. Which was fine with me cause I didn't want to have an awkward conversation with him.
