PAIGE;
"Those two coffees I had were pretty good" Jungkook said as we walked out of Sweetz."Right" I agreed as he chuckled, I liked Sweetz' coffee more than Starbucks.
We walked to the small parking lot and stopped once we got to my car.
"I had a good time with you Paige, it was nice to talk to someone who isn't my brother for once" he smiled as I followed as well.
"Yeah, I had a good time as well" I said as he blushed and looked down.
"I'll see you on Monday?" He asked, I nodded and bit my lip at his cuteness.
"I'll see you in first hour" I said as he smiled and nodded.
"Bye" he said as I waved him off. I turned and got in my car, once I was in and the door was closed I screamed.
Why was he so cute?
I shook my head and pulled out of the parking space and made way back to my boring life at home.
—
"Paige" my mom called, I ran up the stairs and entered her and my fathers bedroom.
"Yeah?" I asked, she was standing next to her window that looked into the Summit.
"Can you be a dear, and go see what's going on over there" she pointed to a spot that was a few yards from our house.
I came closer to get a better look and saw that it was crowded with cars and townsfolk.
It was also cloudy and about to become nightfall soon.
"Oh uh yeah sure" I smiled and left. I grabbed a hoodie from my room and pulled it on.
My smile quickly wearing down as reality hit me, I didn't want to go into the Summit but again I couldn't say no.
My mom knows how much I love... well loved that place.
I left the house and started walking towards the spot where the cars were parked and crowded at.
"It is the name of our Lord that brings salvation. It is the name of Jesus that gives us authority over evil spirits." I heard John say as I got closer.
His bible was clutched to his chest for dear life and he was holding his crucifix in the air, getting rid of the bad spirit or whatever it was.
Behind and beside him there were other people praying, also clutching bibles to their chest.
There was also a bunch of chattering going on. Probably more rumors, the church ladies talked the most shit.
I saw Xavier alone by a car, his dad probably dragged him there along with him.
"Hey, what's going on?" I asked as I stood next to him.
"Here, just wait for it." He said as we looked towards the tallest tree in the middle.
I looked and noticed everyone was doing the same. I knitted my eyebrows and looked back at the tree.
"Protect us from the devil, as we feel him approaching. As we feel him coming towards us..." John began as the thunder started to roll.
It got louder and hit the tree in the middle with a strike or bolt of lightning.
I flinched a bit as the people around us jumped.
That sound made me shiver, it sounded way too familiar. I felt the boom erupt in my heart.
"Its been hitting the same spot every night." Xavier spoke bringing me out of my thoughts.
"Since when?" I asked.
"Since Jeon Jungkook came to town" Gavin said popping up next to us with Dalia.
I kept my gaze on the tree, this all seemed too familiar.
"My mama heard he's from the mental institution. She heard he killed a boy at his school in South Korea" Dalia spoke up.
"Oh bullshit!" Xavier and I said in sync. He truly was my best friend.
"Watch your tongue" She gritted at us as we ignored her hateful gaze.
"My mama said that his father killed his mother and just left town like that" Gavin said, I had enough of him and his families lies.
"Just shut your mouth Gavin!" I said, I was pissed that he kept giving into these lies as if his life depended on it.
"Paige Ryder" he scolded as I rolled my eyes, what are you my father?
"May I speak to you for a moment? Right now?" he asked before dragging me away from Xavier and his pet.
I ripped my hand from his grip as we stopped, I never wanted him to touch me again after what happened.
"What is wrong with you?" He asked as if I'm the bad person in this situation.
I sighed, when will he understand?
"I'm just sick and tired of people in this town putting down someone they barely know" I said, truthfully.
It felt like I've known Jungkook for a long time, it also felt good to stick up for him.
Gavin chuckled, "And you know Jeon Jungkook? Is that what you're saying, Paige?"
I shrugged, "Yeah I guess I do"
I did spend the whole morning getting to know him.
He scoffed and looked up to me, with his hands on his waist almost looking like his dad when he scolds him.
"I'm sorry Paige, but I don't think I'll be able to go to the movies with you tomorrow. I think we need time apart. And I'm sorry to hurt you" he said trying to sound sympathetic.
"Let's go" he said to Dalia as he dragged her to follow him. Her gaze never leaving mine until she was far enough to turn.
I walked back to Xavier, "Did I not say something similar like that to him at the end of Junior year?"
He chuckled, "Hey, some boys are just mad dogs, girly. You can either run or shoot" he smiled as he ruffled my hair.
I rolled my eyes and hit his shoulder. He brung me in closer to him as we watched everyone from town lose their shit over this.
