JUNGKOOK;
"I-"Before Paige could finish the sentence I loved to hear from her most, she was interrupted.
"Paige?"
We both look towards the side to see a male walking towards us with the biggest smile on his face.
He reeked of wet dog. His presence caused my senses and the possessiveness in me for Paige to heighten when I realized what he was.
Werewolf.
My grip on Paige's hand tightened, but not to the point where it hurt her. It only seemed to wake her up from her sudden trance.
"Chance" she breathed... then smiled.
My heart broke, the sound of her voice was more gentle than I've ever heard. It seemed to make her happy that she was seeing him.
She suddenly let go of my hand and I felt my heart break even more as she walked towards the wolf.
His smile only widened when he brought his arms out and enclosed them around her petite frame.
The guys eyes closed as he placed his chin on the top of her head.
"It's been so long, I missed you" I heard her softly say to him, the pain in my heart only grew larger.
"I missed you more Ping" he said then buried his face in her neck, the side where my mark was.
I growled, and it caught his attention.
He looked at me and his smile grew small, "Who's this?" He asked before letting her go.
Paige looked at me, "Chance this is Jungkook, my boyfriend" she smiled.
I smirked as his smile completely dropped.
"Jungkook this is Chance, my childhood friend. I grew up with him when he lived in Silverton" Paige added.
"Nice to meet you Jungkook" Chance nodded as I wore a forced smile.
"Likewise" I spoke as Paige stood next to me, I wasted no time by wrapping my arm around her waist.
Chance lowly snarled at my action but dropped his act when Paige smiled at him.
"Well, we got to go-" I was cut off by Lucas.
"Chance?!" He exclaimed. They immediately hugged and laughed. I guess they do go way back.
"It's been so long since I've seen you" Lucas said as soon as they both let go.
"Yeah, I was kind of hoping to see you guys before the game" Chance spoke and looked at Paige, briefly.
He looked down to the pavement and smiled bashfully as I lowly growled.
"Well we missed you, how long has it been? Five years since you moved?" Lucas asked as Chance slowly nodded.
I could feel Paige stiffen beside me, I guess his leaving impacted her the most. I rubbed her arm and she immediately calmed down.
"Well I got to go, my family is waiting for m-"
"Is that Paige and Lucas Ryder?" A woman with a smile asked as she walked up to us. I sniffed and noticed that they weren't wolves.
I looked at Chance as he sheepishly nodded and ignored my eyes.
Chance's parents hugged the twins and stepped back. His mother was the happiest, I guess she liked Paige.
I didn't blame her.
"How have you been Paige? I heard you're the top runner in the state" His mom spoke with a smile.
Paige blushed and meekly nodded, she didn't like showing off or bragging.
I noticed that Lucas, Chance and his father talked on the side as I stood there. We were all still waiting to go inside.
"You should sit with us, I know Chance missed you so much that he won't mind" His mom insisted.
Paige looked back at me, I couldn't really tell what she wanted me to do. So, I said what I had to say.
"Go ahead, I'll share a table with Xavier" I softly smiled as she frowned, "Go and sit with them, catch up. I'll be fine"
Paige softly sighed but nodded. Chance's parents smiled in victory and walked in.
As Paige walked next to me, I couldn't help but feel her fingers brushing against mine like she wanted to stay.
Chance walked next to her and side-eyed me while he placed his arm around her shoulders.
I glared at him and realized what I just did.
Maybe that was a big mistake.
—
I grumbled to myself as I stared at Paige's table. Chance and his family were having the time of their lives catching up.
They were laughing and smiling, she even gave him the smile she wore when she was around me.
I felt mad and sad at the same time, why did she smile at him like that?
Does she seem that happy around me?
Do I make her smile like that?
A thousand questions were coming to mind as I looked away and at Xavier. He had the same look.
"Do you see them too?" He asked not looking at me but at his dessert.
I nodded, not wanting to speak. It felt as if she stabbed me in the heart, I didn't like this feeling.
But this was my fault. I told her to go so I can't feel mad.
"He always stole her away from me when we grew up. I even thought he had some sort of attachment to her" He scoffed before we both took a glance at them.
Chance was staring at her lovingly, I told myself it would be rude to listen in but at this point I didn't give a fuck.
"Are you okay?" Paige asks Chance.
Chance sighs in... disappointment?
"Yeah, I was just trying something" he replies.
I could feel the rage burning in me now, he was trying to get himself to imprint on her.
He was trying to take MY MATE.
I felt my fangs beginning to poke out as my eyes were threatening to change. I breathed in my nose and immediately smelled Paige.
'It's okay' I told myself.
'You're her mate, not his'
I heard her voice coming closer so I perched up, but she was still with Chance. His scent was gross but Paige's made it a little bearable.
They were walking towards us as Xavier and I shifted upright in our seat, like weren't just sulking a few minutes ago.
When they got towards our table they both stopped. "Hey guys, my mom gave coach permission to let me hang out with Chance and his family for a bit. So, I'll see you guys back at the hotel"
If my heart were to break even more, then it would be nothing but dust by now.
