I sit on top of the hood of Jungkooks car and lean back, inhaling the intoxicating smell of the woods and feel myself instantly relax.

I hear Jungkook close his car door and join me. I open my eyes and sit up to face him properly.

He hands me a blue Powerade as I smile, "You remembered"

"Of course" He smiles, "The blue one is also my favorite"

I chuckle and quietly shiver when a breeze passes by and grazed my legs. Only for Jungkook to grab a spare blanket and cover my legs with it.

He picked me up from basketball practice not too long ago and I'm still wearing my shorts.

"So" Jungkook starts then looks around, "This is your favorite spot?"

I nod, "It's all about the sign"

We are parked on the side of the road, a few yards away from my favorite sign.

I've ran to it and seen it numerous times, and it never gets old.

'You are now leaving Silverton!'

I point at it, "You see up there?"

Jungkook drinks from his Powerade and nods, "Mhm"

"That's the road to freedom" I smile a bit at a memory, "My gramps used to say, 'Get out of this town as soon as you can. Go find out how other people live and think before you find a place that's yours.' And I'd say, 'Gramps, I'm nine. How do I do that?'"

"Aww, baby Paige" Jungkook coos then smiles as I blush. I lean back with Jungkook joining me, "He sounds like a good man"

I smile and nod, "You would've loved him and I'm sure he would've taken a liking to you as well"

I frown at the loss of my best friend but Jungkook looks at me and speaks,

"I wish I'd known him"

"Yeah, gramps was great" A small smile begins to form on my face, "He was my biggest supporter. He came to each and every one of my meet and basketball games, he also wore his handmade merch every time"

Jungkook smiles while he continues to stare at me, but it falters when he sees my eyes start to water.

"He died so suddenly. I remember it like it was yesterday. He was fine the day before his death. I even remember the last words he said to me, 'Paige, I want you to get out of here as soon as you can. I want you to live a life that you have always wanted. And don't worry about me, I'll always be here'."

Before I know it, tears are rolling down my face. I exhale a shuddered breath and sit up, Jungkook following.

"I'm sorry" I let out a small chuckle and wipe the tears away, "I don't know where that came from. I haven't told anyone that"

Jungkook puts his arm over my shoulder and brings me closer to him.

"It's okay babe, you have nothing to apologize for" Jungkook coo's while he rocks me.

"I can't wait till I graduate though. I just hope I'll be accepted into BYU" I smile as Jungkook squeezed me.

"Of course you'll be accepted. That college will be lucky to have you and if they don't well then they're crazy" he said as I giggled.

"If I ever get in, then you'll be the first to know" I say as Jungkook smiles.

"I better be" he says, that can be arranged.
