PAIGE;
I groaned when I turned off the engine."Let it all out sweetie" Xavier said rubbing my arm.
I put my head against my steering wheel that had a sunflower cover. I inhaled and exhaled, dramatically.
"Ok let's go" I said as I got out. I noticed that other people had the same expression I had on my face.
Disgust.
I opened the back door and grabbed my backpack, putting it on.
I closed the door and met Xavier on the other side of the vehicle.
He brung out his arm and I linked mine with his. We began walking to our first hour that we had together.
I sat down in the back and listened to my music before the bell rang. I saw the familiar shadow I dreaded to see, especially today.
"Hey Paige, how was your summer?"
I looked up and it was him, my ex-boyfriend, Gavin.
"Fine, Gavin. And yours?" I asked, giving him my best fake smile.
"Awesome. Why didn't you go to the fair or the parade? It was such a good time" he asked.
"I wasn't up for it" I answered, I really wasn't. It was the same thing every year.
"I don't understand what's happened" he said, looking down at me.
"I know you don't. I'm sorry." I said giving him a fake pout.
"You said to give you the summer, and I did.
I didn't hear from you once, but I was good. I didn't call, but I missed you." he basically poured his heart out, "Hey, no big deal, right?"He gave me a sad smile, and I gave him a fake one.
"How about you and I go see a movie
or something? Just us. Oh, that would be just great" he smiled."Sure" I smiled, there was no way in hell I was going to watch a movie alone with him.
Finally the bell rang as he took a seat, beside me.
"Everyone, take your seats" Our Government teacher, Mr. Anthony said as soon as he walked in.
"Paige, baby, I wish you'd quit listening to that kind of music. It's bad for your mind" Gavin said peering over at my phone.
I was listening to J.Cole, I rolled my eyes and put my phone away.
"As a requirement of this course, you will need to select a topic for a term paper, based on materials covered in chapters 1 through 12." Our teacher spoke.
Great, he's already assigning us work when school had just started.
Once he finished a boy came in, he didn't look like he was from here.
"Is that him?" Gavin's friend, Dalia asked
"Must be. What is he wearing?" He asked
"He looks like death eating a cracker" Dalia added
I loved the strangers style, he wore a navy and white button shirt tucked into his black pants that hugged his legs, topping it off with a black belt and black dress shoes. His hair was black, as his bag hung off his broad shoulder.
"Now, just take any seat, mr, uh, uh...?" The teacher stammered.
He sat a few seats in front in the second row where I could see the side of his face, perfectly.
He was really handsome.
"Bangtan. Isn't it?" Gavin asked, "My mom says nobody's seen anyone leave that creepy Bangtan house in years... She says they're devil worshipers".
"Actually it's Jeon" he spoke up, his voice was so manly, I sighed at the sound of it.
"Well, uh, now, that's an out-and-out lie. I happen to know for a fact that you're one of the Bangtan boys" Gavin said.
"Well, you must have been first to come up with that assumption" the unknown Jeon boy said peering back.
He took a glance at me but I looked away smiling, he turned back around.
"Ooh" everyone around the classroom said like a bunch of kids.
"Gavins father, the pastor says devil worshipers hate fresh air. It makes them choke" Dalia said trying to get back at him.
"Well, we all know what makes you choke" Xavier said indicating the rumor that Gavin and Dalia were having a fling.
Everyone started to laugh and chatter remembering the rumor from last year.
I shook my head, that was one of the reasons why we broke up. I knew Dalia had a thing for him, she was always jealous of us.
"That's enough, Mr. Scott!" Mr. Anthony said.
"He's such a fool!" Dalia said as I rolled my eyes.
I looked at the Jeon boy and smiled. He's the only one who ever dared to speak back to Gavin.
I looked at his hands and noticed he had a ring on his pointer finger. His veins drew me in as I sighed at the sight.
"Paige?" I faintly heard Gavin call my name, I ignored it and looked at the boy
~~
School continued as I started seeing the Jeon boy more and more.
I just finished lunch with Xavier and had a prep hour now, so I went to the library.
"Paige honey, how was your summer?" The librarian Mrs. Evans smiled.
"It was good, how was yours?" I asked.
"It was nice. Benedict and I went to Washington, it was a nice change of scenery" she smiled.
"Must have been, I did the usual but I had fun" I said as she nodded.
"Well I'll let you go now. Your usual spot is waiting" she said as I nodded.
I went to the back and sat down at my usual table. It was where no one usually went, the folklore and mythology section.
I settled down and got out my book. 'You get so alone at times that it just makes sense'.
Charles Bukowski is my favorite author, I took the chance to reread this book whenever I could.
I took out my phone and set it beside me incase I lost track of time, believe me it's happened before.
I found the page I left off on and began reading.
After a few seconds of me reading, I felt and heard the chair across me being pulled out.
