28. Natalie is in pain

Natalie was feeling down the past few days. She was in pain and couldn't get up. She tried getting up to help David, and as much as David needed her, he didn't want her with him if this made her ache.

David was out all day when Natalie had a serious panic attack. She couldn't feel her leg and she couldn't see clearly. As soon as she realized that, she slowly went to grab her phone and tried to stay calm. She didn't know if she was supposed to call David or the ambulance. "Oh" she screened and fell to the ground, she quickly called David as he was on her emergency calls.

David answered the phone as he was still talking to somebody. "Hold on, Natalie's calling. Hey" he said and Natalie took a deep breath. It hurt too.

"Dave" she said trying to find the strength to say more. "I need you" she cried and stayed on the ground when David's mood quickly changed from "having fun", to "it's the worst day of my life". He run to his car and started driving even though he was supposed to drive Jonah and Jason back home. He forgot he was their ride, and quickly drove towards his house.

"It's okay, I'm coming, talk to me" he said as he still didn't know what had happened. He just could tell by her heavy breathing that she was crying and in pain.

"It hurts when I talk" she cries and realizes that she has no strength to hold her phone by her ear. Her hands slip and rest to her leg when she hears David reminding her that he's here.

David pulled up real quickly, but it seemed like years to Natalie. He must have ignored lots of red lights on his way to her, she thought when she heard the Tesla on the driveway. David runs in to the house and finds Natalie on the ground next to his bedroom door. "Natalie" he got on his knees to help her up. He carries her to the Tesla and started driving to the nearest hospital.

When the air hit her face, and as David was holding her hand all the time while driving, Natalie felt better. "Did you drive safely?" she asks him and David smirks.

"You're in pain and that's what you're worried about?" he squeezes her hand and she repeated the question. "No Natalie, I couldn't drive safely when I could hear you cry in my ears"

Natalie turned to look at David. "I'm sorry, I had to be more calm. I didn't want to upset you"

"It's okay. You're okay" he smiles and caressed her hair.

When they finally arrived at the hospital, Natalie was able to walk with the help of David, so he took her to the emergency room. He talked to the doctors and listened to Natalie describe what's she went through. "So I was alone at home" she casually said and it made David's heart ache. If only he was there with her.

The doctor asked to talk to David and the two men left the room. "Are you her boyfriend?" the man asked David.
"No" David answered. "But we're living together" he almost corrected himself.
"Well, I just want to know how close you are. We have to do some tests that cost a lot. What I have in mind, that you're friend might be going through is something one in a million people have.
David's heart was beating fast. He didn't know if was strong enough to hear about his best friend being sick. His eyes had tears now and he breathed right before he asked the doctor the question.
"Is she gonna be okay?" his voice cracked in the middle of the sentence as he wasn't ready for the answer.
"We don't know!" the doctor tapped David's arm and left him by himself.

David wiped the tears and opened the door to talk to Natalie. "Hi" he smiled at her and he could tell by her face that she was feeling better.

It was one and a half weeks later when David and the doctor discussed Natalie's situation after all of the tests. The doctor was holding a bunch of different papers trying to understand what had happened with Natalie. "I know what this is" he finally said and David held his breath. "It is nothing serious really, it goes away with pills and a lot of dedication. Mrs Mariduena must stay at the hospital for at least two weeks and then you can take her back home. She will probably have these pains some times that are really hard and that's when she needs us" the doctor explained her situation and David listened carefully.
