56. Carly sank the ship

David was dining with Natalie at an Italian restaurant when his phone blew up with postures of him and Natalie walking on the sidewalk.

He casually looked at one of them. "We look cute" he wanted to make her say it, so he showed her one of the posts. This was not a date. They just went out to eat something because they were both starving. But it definitely looked like a date in those pictures the fan accounts were sharing.

"David Dobrik with his girlfriend out on a date in West Hollywood... I can already picture the headlines!! #datalie" was the caption on a post were David is laughing while handing something to Natalie.

David went through all the posts. He loved it when people overthink something David and Natalie naturally did. It made him feel like he should be with her, like the things they did naturally were couple things.

So he let people go on and on rambling about how David didn't post anything on his insta because dates were personal and he didn't want people to know that they're dating. "These people are funny" he admitted explaining to Nat how pretty much everything they did was because "they're dating".

He looked on fan pages, then on group chats called all kinds of "datalie" then watching some of the datalie fan edits. He enjoyed one that much that he actually liked it. Without realizing what he had done, he locked his phone to talk to Natalie and give her the attention she needed.

They talked about the vlogs and the merch. They exchanged ideas and goals. This time Natalie's phone rang. It was Reggie, he left a call and also three messages.
"Didn't know you were going to sink the ship tonight"
"I literally was about to comment on your guy's post but Carly did THAT lol"
"she was also too much, she didn't have to say those things"
Natalie read the messages out loud to David before she answered. "What did she do?"

David grabbed his phone to check everything on Instagram. He was never the kind of person to care about likes and followers that much but he literally had just lost 13 followers in less than a minute. "What the fuck happened?" he asked and looked at Natalie confused.

"Apparently Carly said something about us" she raised her hands and placed her hand on the table. "I don't wanna deal with this right now, it's also probably something stupid"

David agreed. He renewed his feed one more time before closing his phone too. But then a video of Carly popped up and he had to see it since she was showing pictures of David and Natalie.

He couldn't listen to the video but it was a tiktok of her saying something and pictures of him and Natalie popping up with her singing along to a song. The caption to the post was "she jealous she can't have him" and it was posted by a datalie fan account.

"Just let it for now" Natalie touched David's hand and he smiled.
"You're right, I'm not gonna respond obviously. I just need to know why she did what she did" David locked his phone and caressed Natalie's hand. "But we'll do that later" he started a new conversation with Natalie about Hawaii and how he wanted to go again.

She was down for a trip to Hawaii so they got lost planning a trip to Hawaii rather than thinking about Carly's tiktok.

When David paid for their food and they got in the car. "Do you want ice cream?" David asked Natalie and she smiled.

"You know I do" so David drove off to go grab something sweet for them after that pasta.

Natalie ordered ice cream for both of them. It was a big bawl of ice cream with two little spoons. She chose the flavors and got back to the car, where David was waiting for her.

"We just finished eating but Natalie wanted ice cream too" David laughed talking to the camera when Natalie entered the car.

"Weee" she screamed excited handing David one of the spoons. David stopped recording and posted that on his story. He grabbed the spoon and shared with Natalie the delicious ice cream flavors she picked on the parking lot of the store.

"Wanna go somewhere to eat it, or do you prefer in the car?" he asked having in mind maybe driving to a viewpoint.

"It's cool right here" she immediately said looking at the view out of the window, at all those cars driving fast. "But a hill would be even better" she shook her head and David started driving excited.

On the way to the viewpoint Natalie couldn't stop eating from the ice cream and David joked about it. "You literally ate all of it!"

He parked the car and they both admired at the view. Well at least David did, while Natalie stared at him. "I finished it Dave" she shook the empty bawl in her hands.

"It's okay" he smiled.

"Aren't you mad?"

"No Nat, what's mine is yours..." he casually said looking out the view from the red Ferrari.

"Well, I can eat that too then" she pulled out his favorite candy from her pocket and took a bite. She waited for him to notice and then she burst into laughter when he grabbed it and ate from it too.

"Wow look at you sharing foods today" she smiled proud of him. "We're doing well" she rubbed his arm which made him remember of Carly's tiktok.

"Oh yeah" he remembered and DMd Carly.
"What's happening?"
At that point he read all the messages from his friends wondering if they had missed something.

"I honestly thought that something happened between you and Natalie. I thought you guys like got in a fight so that's why Carly posted that thing" Zane had said on a video he sent. In response to that David sent a video of him and Nat saying that nothing happened. "We're literally together right now!"

"What?" Carly then responded.
"What's up with you shutting datalie down lol?" he tried to sound cool but he really wasn't.

Natalie rested her head on David shoulder to read the messages.
