51. Saying goodbye part2

Natalie had been in her room crying, avoiding everyone's calls for a few hours when her mother finally convinced her to eat. She opened the door and let her mother bring in some pancakes. "To cheer you up" she smiled and sat on the bed next to her daughter to learn about the situation.

"David is leaving tomorrow" Natalie said as she was taking a bite.
"I heard, and why was he yelling at you?" her mother was listening carefully.
"Because I said something I shouldn't have said"
"Can you take it back?"
"I can but I don't want to because I meant it" Natalie shook her head.
"Was that thing bad?"
"I didn't say it to make him feel but I actually did it for the opposite reason. Ugh, I don't know what I expected" she couldn't even describe the reason she confessed her love.
"Did he say it back?" her mother smiled, trying to make her daughter realize that she understood her.

Natalie looked up at her mother and smiled back. She felt so lucky to have such mom. "No. But I think he feels that way, because he used to have a crush on me"

"Is it possible for him to have moved on?"

"I guess. And if he hasn't moved on in the moment, he'll for sure forget about me in LA" Natalie raised her shoulders. "It's okay. I'm alright"

Her phone ring started ringing and she read David's name on it. "Pick it up" her mother patted her head and left the room, closing the door on her way out.

"Hi" she answered the call and waited for a couple of seconds but he didn't talk.

"I'm sorry" they said at the same time. "I shouldn't have yelled at you, you had the right to open up" he said calmly. "If you really feel that way" he added.
"I think I do feel that way. I just don't know if it's right, you know, we're like siblings"
"You see, all those years I didn't know if it was right for me to have those feelings, because I thought that we were like brother and sister and I thought it would be weird. That was the only reason I never really asked you out. And now, with you, the only person in the world that I trust the most, telling me that it would be wrong, I totally believe it. If you think it would be weird, then I'll never mention us again!" he tried to explain how understanding he could be.

"Thanks for being so understanding and so logical" she smiled looking at the ceiling.

"That's what friends are for. That, and loving you" he played with his hair. "And I love you Natalie, as a friend" which made her laugh.

When the next day all of David's friends went to say goodbye to him, Natalie went to see him too. He greeted all of them, hugging everyone quickly so he wouldn't miss the flight. "I'll wait for you to come" he said to every friend.

"I'll wait for you too" he poked her nose and hugged her tight. "I'll miss you" he rubbed her arm and went on to the next person.

He get done with all of his friends and got in the car with Alex and Natalie. She was driving them to the airport. She parked outside the airport and Alex rushed to the gates to solve a problem they had with their tickets.

"That gives me more time to say goodbye to you, huh?" she smiled and hugged him one more time. "I don't know what I want for you. Be successful and never come back because that's what you deserve, or suck t whatever you do so you can come back soon and be here with us. With me" she teared up but she quickly laughed it off.

"Wish me to be successful enough so I can bring you there with me. That'd be perfect wouldn't it be?"

"That can't happen Dave, but high goals are better than no goals"

David hugged her for the last time and walked away, looking back to make sure she's right there. He seemed so sure and confident but he was terrified of the idea of living in California all alone. He hated how next Tuesday he wouldn't be with his friends, playing beer pong and dancing to stupid songs.

He would miss his life back in Vernon Hills, but he hoped for a better life in Los Angeles. That's why he got on that plane. And while in the air, he saw a notification from Instagram saying that Natalie posted a picture of them. "Hoping that my best friend's on a safe flight to LA by now. Until next time buddy" David read the caption and liked the photo.

"I'm gonna miss you sexpartner, get on a flight and come visit me as soon as you can" he commented but quickly deleted it. Instead he DMed her.

"Love you"
"Me too❤️" she responded in a matter of seconds.
