32. Surprising Natalie with a car vlog

David was laying on the floor going through pictures on his phone when he bumped into a selfie of him and Natalie in his first car. He remembered taking her for a ride and telling her how much he loves vine and YouTube and how she should be a Youtuber too. "I'm better off like that Dave" she had said and congratulated him.

Natalie's birthday was coming up and David realized that he has given a bunch of people cars, and he hasn't given one of the most important people in his life one. "Honestly I don't even care if I'm buying it, I just want to gift one to her" he said to Jason on the phone.

A few weeks later, everyone is in David's and Natalie's house getting ready to go to their show about the Views tour. David didn't know that Shawn would be there. He had no problem with Natalie's boyfriend but it would feel weird gifting her something this big while he was standing there.

He hadn't wished her a happy birthday all day. He acted like he didn't even know. He was so stressed about the surprise more that the show. He wanted her to like the car, every wrong scenario was in his head and he tried to make sure that everything would be fine.

Natalie had noticed that David hadn't wished her all day. She was so pissed at him. And she should, but it was weird. Her boyfriend flew out to be with her for her birthday and all she cared about was how David didn't wish her happy birthday. Shawn didn't really know what to say, when Natalie complained about David to him. He never really knew David, he never wanted to get to know him. He never asked Natalie to stop hanging out with him, but by not being friendly around David, he accomplished Natalie not knowing if they liked each other.

Her friends who had noticed Shawn not talking to David this much were always asking her "what if Shawn asks you to stop seeing David?" and stuff and it was always hard.

The answer to that, was something that her mother told her on a Sunday morning while FaceTiming. "You can't choose Shawn over David. Not because I don't like Shawn or because I like David. But because one you've known for half of your life, and the other for a couple of years. You never choose your SO over your BF... remember b and f come first in the alphabet than s and o"

David had been planning the surprise all by himself because obviously he didn't have Natalie's help this time, and that made the surprise much more special. Only a few people knew because he didn't want anybody accidentally telling her.

He makes everybody sit on the couch, and conveniently enough, Natalie is in the middle. He starts talking, about the show and he feels his hands getting sweaty. Seeing Natalie being unaware of what was going to happen made his stomach hurt. He was excited like he has never been in his life.

His best friend who was there since the beginning, who was his neighbor, classmate, roommate, assistant was his favorite person on the world. She deserved this car more than anybody he knew. Coming out to LA just to be there by his side was important to him and he appreciated it.

"We're gonna take two cars" he says and can't stop smiling. He makes sure not to look a lot at Natalie. "We're gonna take Natalie's car" he says and Natalie is surprised. First of all, she didn't know that. She just realized that she wasn't the one to plan the whole thing. And also, it was weird taking her car when David's was bigger. But she went with it. "And then we're gonna take Natalie's second car too" he smiles trying to hold his tears.

Her look was all he needed. "Don't do that" she asks burying her head in between her legs. She was so shy. "I'm gonna cry" she says as tears were already running down her face. David didn't like watching her cry, but knowing that she cried out of happiness and that he was the reason she was happy, made him cry with her.

He kneeled down and rested his hand on her knee. He couldn't see anybody else, but Natalie didn't feel that way. Surrounded by his friends and cameras gave her anxiety. She felt the need to hold her feelings so that nobody looks at her but also she wanted to be herself so that David could get a good vlog out of it.

The were still looking at each other and David was still holding her key. "It's yours" he laughed and wiped his tears for the hundredth time. He felt the need to wipe her tears too, but knowing that Shawn was looking at them, he couldn't. "Come on. Let's go see it" he stood up and reached his hand to help her stand up. She follows him outside and so does everybody else.

They're all looking at the car while Natalie cries once again. David asks for them to get inside the car and they're alone in it. "I don't deserve it" she finally says knowing that they're alone.

"Don't say ever say that" he says half mad. They joke about her job and Natalie realizes that she hasn't hugged him.

"Can I give you a hug?" she awkwardly asks. Why were they like that? They would always be touchy but now everything was more complicated.

She gives him a hug and even though both of them enjoy it very much, David thinks of Shawn and plays it cool. "Gross" he says like a little child and causes Natalie to laugh.

When they all have a good look at the car, they get in their cars to drive to the show. While David is on stage, Natalie is backstage staring at him being a proud friend. When she looked back she saw Shawn talking to some guys and realized how bad of a girlfriend she really was. But she didn't actually feel bad, she just felt weird. Like Shawn wasn't her priority in life anymore. She shook those thoughts off her and walked to her boyfriend.

She did miss David while talking to her boyfriend and that was weird. But the thought that she would be back home with David by the night, made her feel relaxed.

When she drove Shawn to the airport a little fight they had made her cry. It wasn't serious and she knew that they weren't over but coming home to David's arms was everything she didn't know she needed. "Come here" he simply said and she buried her body into his. These intimate moments that meant nothing but also meant everything was something that she missed having with her best friend.

"I love you. And thank you. And sorry. And I love you" she said while her head was resting on his chest and her feet were around his legs.

He smiled hearing these words coming out of her mouth. "I know. You're welcome. About what? Me too" he answered to all of her comments.

"For not giving you content. I feel like I didn't give a good reaction" she closed her eyes.
"It was a genuine reaction and that what I loved about it" he kissed her head. "Let's go to sleep, it was a big day" he pat her arm and she rolled over to free him. "Aren't you going to go to bed?" he asked her looking at her still laying on the couch.

Natalie looked into David's eyes and couldn't stop laughing after a few seconds that seemed like hours she finally said "I'm really really lucky to have you" she got up and walked to her bedroom.

"It's the other way around though" he smiled just before entering his bedroom. "I'm the lucky one!" he pointed at himself and she smiled at herself.
