Jude sits in the waiting room with his head on Connor's shoulder. He had been there for no telling how many hours, but Jude was too worried that if they left something would happen. Jude wanted to stay as long as he could but he knew they couldn't stay forever.
Taylor was tracing the bandage on her hand that was now covering the cut from the crash. She looked over at her wife who didn't look too good. Daria was sitting there silently. Taylor supposed it was still because of the shock of it all.
"Do you think Alex is okay?" Jude asked his husband. "Do you think that maybe they'll let us back there?"
"Jude" Connor said softly. "I think Brandon and Alex's mom are enough back there. Brandon was pretty clear that we had to stay here."
"And what about Peter and Ava?" Jude whispered. "Aren't you even a little curious as to where they are?"
"Jude he's dead" Connor said. "I know he is."
"But Ava texted that he's hooked up to a machine" Taylor added quickly. "So we don't know that he's dead."
"You didn't see what I saw" Connor told them. "What Ava and I saw. He was dead, maybe he's connected to a machine but it isn't Peter."
Brandon stepped out of the room. For some reason Jude sensed that something wasn't right. Staring at his brother Brandon seemed so cold, jude worried that something was wrong with Alex and his heart started to beat faster.
"How's Alex?" Jude said standing to his feet. Connor and Taylor stood as well but Daria just sat there as if she was staring off into space.
"He's sleeping" Brandon said hugging himself. "He might have some damage or not remember everything but he's okay. He's alive and that's good..."
"It is" Taylor nodded. "Can we see him?"
"I think he needs space right now" Brandon said shaking his head. He felt protective for not being there when he should have been. "I'm going to be here all night, the rest of you should go home."
Jude shook his head. "Brandon, he's our fri---"
"I said to go home, Jude" Brandon snapped at his brother. Jude had never heard Brandon so angry and Jude knew the anger was directed at them. "I am his husband, okay? The rest of you aren't married to him. The rest of you don't need to be here, so go home."
Jude wanted to say more, to try to convince Brandon to let him stay but Connor was already dragging him towards the exit and Jude knew he had to go.
The next day, Jude was still awake. He was sitting on the couch, Connor was passed out beside him. Jude knew he should try to sleep but nothing seemed to be able to get him to sleep, he was too worried to fall asleep and he didn't know what to do.
"Hey" Connor said yawning as he opened his eyes. "Have you slept any?"
"Honestly, no" Jude responded as he rubbed his fingers through his husband's hair. "All I can think about is Alex and Peter."
"Alex is okay, Jude" Connor told his husband. "He might have lost some memory or have some trouble, but if he does he will eventually get past that and be the same Alex we all know and love."
"I can't help it I'm so worried about them" Jude admitted. "And the way Brandon looked at us last night---it's like he blames us for what happened to Alex."
"Jude he's his husband" Connor replied. "You can't take it personally. He's being protective and if something happened to you---I'd be the same way. So you can't take it personally because Brandon is just looking out for him."
