Eddy probably should have seen this coming, especially after Brett pointed it out to him. He coughed again, feeling the headache worsen as he did and whined to himself. Everything felt heavy, and just the act of going to the bathroom had been exhausting.
Most of the day had gone to sleeping except the little trip to the kitchen to get himself something to eat. He had promised Brett to take care of himself after all.

He was back in bed with a cup of tea and a pile of snot paper when his phone rang that afternoon. He reached to the bedside table and smiled to himself when it was actually a video call from Brett. He answered it, not really thinking about how he looked.

"Hey love", he said with more voice cracks than a teenaged boy once Brett appeared on the screen.
"Dude, how sick are you?" Brett asked, running his hand through his hair. "You look terrible."
Eddt snorted.
"Thanks? Love you yoo", he said with a tiny smile before having to cough again. "I made myself tea, see?" He held up the cup, and Brett nodded in approval.
"Did you eat something too? I hope you're not still living on that blueberry muffin." Brett's voice was trying to sound stern, but Eddy couldn't help but pick up the tiny weakness in the back of it. It felt like he was forcing it.
"I made grilled cheese earlier. Taking care of myself as promised", Eddy assured, taking a sip of his tea.
Brett nodded approvingly, running his hand through his hair again.

"What have you been doing today, then?", Eddy asked, coughing after. Brett shifted uncomfortably.
"Just group therapy and uh I met with a doctor today", Brett said, taking his glasses off to rub his eyes. "They want to give me some uh.. Anti psychotics or whatever the hell they called it."
Eddy nodded.
"That's good. For the voice?" he asked, taking another sip of his tea. Brett shrugged.
"I guess. I'm not sure if I want to take them, though." Brett shifted slightly again and wrapped an arm around himself. Eddy furrowed his brows.
"Why not? Any side effects you're not sure about or...?" he asked, taking another sip of his tea. He hated seeing Brett look so small, and the need to just hold him was overwhelming.
"No, no. I guess it's just kinda stupid, but I don't think I want the voice to go away?" Brett looked like he was scared he'd get yelled at, like he had ran over someone's dog with a car or something.

Eddy nodded a bit, not really knowing what to say. He hsd another sip of the tea while trying to think about something sensible to say.
"I thought it was being mean to you, though?" Eddy asked, scratching his chin. "Wouldn't it be better if it stopped being mean to you?"
Brett sighed and tilted his head down, ruffling his hair while trying to think.
"I guess. I just don't know how to do things without it, it's a pretty big part of my life you know", Brett sighed, looking back up. "I know it's stupid, I'm just scared. I'm sorry."
"Don't apologize, love. I can understand it's a big change", Eddy said, coughing again. He could feel his nose starting to run and moved to set the cup down and reach for some tissues. "I guess it's up to you, but if they think it'll help you, I think you should consider it."

Eddy blew his nose, and Brett didn't reply.
"Let's talk about it tomorrow, okay? Visitation starts at nine, right?" Eddy asked, grabbing his tea again. Brett shook his head.
"Ten, but if you're still sick tomorrow you're not coming. You need rest to get better, Eddy." Brett's stern voice was back, and Eddy smiled a bit.
"I'm fine, Brett. It's just a cold", he said, taking a gulp of his now not too hot tea. It felt nice when it ran down his throat, but immediately after the sore feeling was back.
"You'll get worse if you exert yourself too much, Eddy. I'll be fine, take care of yourself please", Brett said, looking worried.
Eddy scoffed and furrowed his brows.
"Sure you'll be fine if I don't show up, but I miss you. I don't think I can wait until Sunday", Eddy said, getting frustrated with the fact that it seemed Brett didn't want him there. Brett's cheeks got a hint of red on them.
"Don't be silly, you can manage without me for a week. I'm not that important."
Eddy shook his head hard, regretting it immediately as his head hurt doing so.
"You're literally the most important person in my life, Brett, and I'll be there tomorrow morning. I miss you too much."
