The US's starting XI was very strong. Naeher in goal with Sonnett,Sauerbrunn, Dahlkemper and O'Hara making up the defence. In midfield was Tobin, Karima,Rose and Dunn. The two strikers were Carli and Christen. Before the game, Alex came onto the pitch to be presented with a cute replica kit for her daughter. She wasn't yet born but judging by Alex's stomach, it appeared to be happening soon. After that happened Karima managed to get a look at the Canadian starting XI. Labbé has shrugged off an injury to be between the sticks. The defence consisted of Buchanan, Zardorsky and Chapman. The midfield had Scott,McClaude,Fleming and Quinn. The front three had Janine Beckie, Adriana Leon and a Portland Thorns legend in Karimas eyes, Christine Sinclair. Karima was shocked that McClaude was playing in midfield. Probably too risky to put her in defence in a game like this She concluded. As the handshakes went round, the 4th player that reached Mendoza was McClaude. Instead of shaking her hand , Sharon winked in which Karima responded to by smirking. Karima continued shaking players hands and tried to ignore the concerned looks she was getting from both sets of players. After the team huddle (in which all of Carli's words went over Karimas head) the players jogged over to their positions. Carli went up to Karima and mouthed You know that girl? Karima immediately knew who she was talking about We went to the same school Karima mouthed back. Carli nodded before taking her place about to kickoff the match with Christen. Karima looked up to the sky one last time before sighing. Of course she had to have a debut to worry about.
