Its your birthday!

It was July the 4th. Karima was excited to go away for international duty again. To her surprise, Andonovski picked her again. Her and Emily got a plane to Washington. Seattle, specifically. The place where Karima was born. Both matches were warm up friendlies in the U.S for the Olympics in a few weeks.Karima didn't think she'd be going. But she was going to do something rare and keep her hopes up.
Emily was acting strange. On the place to Washington, Karima noticed her constantly on her phone and giggling. While it wasn't that strange of her, she was being quite secretive when Karima asked what she was doing. "You'll find out soon!" Giving a signature scary laugh.
When they arrived at the hotel, it was oddly quiet at first. As they were walking in, Emily asked "Do you know what day it is?" Karima wasn't that confused. "Yeah July 4th. American Independence Day is it not?" Emily rolled her eyes. "You fucking patriot." She joked. Just then they entered the foyer where Karima got a big
"SURPRISE!"
All her teammates jumped out from behind the furniture and Karima was so overjoyed, tears began to fill her eyes. "Oh for fucks sake!" Ash cried out "I thought this wasn't supposed to make her cry!" Much to everyone's laughter. After being embraced Carli and Emily asked "Did you genuinely not know it was your birthday?" Feeling embarrassed , Karima nodded. She hadn't really celebrated her birthday since she was a kid. Her 9th birthday in particular was unpleasant.
The rest of the the day was pretty good. The whole team went out for a "birthday dinner", and when they got back, Karima found that she was roomed with Alex Morgan.
To Karimas disappointment,the break went by relatively quickly. Their two friendlies were against Brazil and Germany were they won against Brazil 3-2 and drew against the Germans 1-1 .
After embracing everyone, Emily and Karima headed on the flight back to Portland where Emily asked Karima a question. "Do you think you will get selected to go to the Olympics?" Karima laughed before shaking her head. "Me? Of course not!" Emily appeared disappointed by her answer. "You definitely will." She reassured her. "You've brought the pieces together since you've came!" And the pieces of my heart together for you, Emily secretly thought.
