JUST HOLD ON

CHAPTER 26

"Yes dear. How can I help you?" a woman answered the door.

I don't know why I felt like I have seen her somewhere. She seemed so familiar. Like a long lost memory.

"Oh, you are here." Jake pulled me out of my thoughts.

"Mom, this is Alexis Carter. Alexis this is my mom. Julie." He said.

"Nice to meet you Mrs. Drago." I said sweetly.

Something crossed her eyes as she heard my name. She was quick enough to cover it. And smiled sweetly at me.

I did not give it much of a thought. We ran upstairs.

"So, shall we begin?" he asked.

"Yes." I replied nervously.

He then taught me so well I started to understand it a little.

I solved 2 answers out of 5 answers and got both right. I was very happy.

It was 9 already? How long had we been up here?

"I think I should go." I said packing my stuff.

"Yes. I will lead the way." He smiled.

"Bye Mrs. Drago." I said waving at her.

She just nodded.

"Sorry about my mom. I think she is not in a good mood today." He said as we headed to the door.

"That is fine. See you tomorrow." I said waving.

He waved back.

We continued out tutoring sessions everyday and I am proud to say that I am getting better at calculus.

And everyday his mom was in a bad mood or it was because me I could care less. I would never go there after this test.

I am sure I will not stop hanging out with Jake it is just that I won't be going to his place anymore. 

And including today we had one two days until the D-day.

"Okay Lexi, I am actually very happy to see your progress. But you have one more thing to learn and you are done." He smiled.

"Okay. Bring it on."

I made loads of mistakes, but he was patient enough to teach me every time I went wrong.

"Alexis. Wake up else we will be late to school." Someone poked me on my cheeks.

It was Jake. I fell asleep ?

I groaned and found myself in Adrian's sweatshirt. How I had no clue.

"How did you get this?" I asked Jake.

"I called your sis and told her that you fell asleep. So she said me to take the sweatshirt for you." He said .

"Oh God. You went to my house just for this?" I asked

"Yes. And to tell your parents that you will be sleeping here."

"Why not carry me to the car and drop me off instead of getting this?" I asked raising my eyebrows.

"I could have done that. Why did that not cross my mind?" He smacked his head.

I laughed. And got ready to leave.

"Lexi."

"Yes."

"Is that Adrian's sweatshirt?"

"Yes." I said sighing.

" I though you were moving on." He said curiously.

"Yes and I am trying to."

"Then try harder Alexis." He said ruffling my hair.

Out of nowhere the door to his room barges open.

"Did you sleep with her Jake?" his mom raged at him.

"What? Mom no." Jake replied.

I was scared to even answer.

"You!!" She shouted pointing a finger at me.

"Stay away from my son. This will be the last time you come here. Understood?"

"Mom. What is wrong?" Jake sided me.

"Keep your mouth closed Jake." She said angrily.

"Ye-Yes mam." I stuttered.

I then ran before leaving I could hear Jake shouting at his mom.

What is up with her?

Why is she acting so weirdly with me.

Anyway, I decided that I am not going there ever again.

I sent a text to Jake telling him to come to my place to tutor me tomorrow and since it was the last day I would get him his favorite blueberry cheesecake.

I just wanna get over with this test. I will never have to face his Mom ever again.
