JUST HOLD ON

CHAPTER 2

The next day I woke up to Jake nuzzled to my neck and our legs tangled. I carefully pull myself away from him but ended waking him up in that process.

"What are you doing, babe?" he asked.

"I have to get to college and I need to bath. Your smell has rubbed off on me and I stink like a guy." I said sniffing my arms and chuckled.

He got up and carried me to the shower. And I squealed.

"What? It is not like this is the first time." He said dropping me.

"Get out now." I shot back. He made his way out and heard the door close.

"I don't feel like working today. I am in no mood." I slumped against the cafeteria chair.

"You tell this on all Fridays, Lexi." Brit snorted and munched her fries.

I stuck my tongue at her and at the same time our mobile pinged.

Eh? At the same time?

Weird.

I looked at the message expecting Jake to have sent us a message but to our surprise it wasn't.

"Lexi, looks like it is your lucky day." Dan exclaimed.

"Fuck yeah." I shouted without realizing where we were seated.

I muttered a sorry and turned to Brit who was looking at us. We told her that it was our day off she went into a deep thought.

"What is going on in that mind of yours girl?" I asked her.

"We need to go party. We haven't done that in a long time and it is high tine we find some guy for Nat. Else she will die as a single old cat." I agreed with her but she knows how I feel about parties.

I was about to tell her no but she beat me to it.

"We are not gonna force you, you can always sit at home watch your favorite shadow-hunters series, swoon over Magnus and Alec while eating your ice cream. But if you wanna come you are more than welcome." She said smiling.

Ahh like I would let go of my ME time over a party which I am still terrified to go.

"Got it. Your expression says it all. Less for us to pay." She said.

I texted Jake about our sudden OFF from the office because they had something huge happening today and about the party.

He really did not want to go to the party but I forced him to leave me with my MALEC.

Around 4:30 pm I got a call from Kathy, a friend from the office and I had missed her call so I called back.

"Hey, you had called?" I said.

"Yeah, to ask you about some file, but I got it anyway." She said gasping for air.

"Are you fine?" I asked out of concern.

"Yeah, no. Actually the bosses are gonna visit the office and we have a meeting about the new project we are supposed to be handling and we had to make sure that all was in place. Not that they are strict about those or anything. But it is just that. We had to make sure none of the interns are lurking around and that everyone's received a message. Have you received? Obviously, I was the one who sent it out."

That ladies and gentlemen is Kathy who rambles a lot. This is not even half of what she is capable of.

It then clicked that she said that the bosses are coming.

"Calm down, Kathy. And what did you tell about the bosses?" I asked.

I really wanted to see how they look. Never even heard of their names except their fake names: Red and Crescent.
