JUST HOLD ON

CHAPTER 4

We were watching TV when I got a call.

"Hey Beth. What's up, baby sister?"

"Ugh. Don't call me that. I am fine. How are you?" she asked.

"I'm good. I miss you all."

"Yeah, everyone misses you too."

"You're still the same." I laughed.

"How is Maa?" I asked.

Maa is out of her coma, but she still can not talk. She can hear us and see us but just can't talk yet.

"She is fine. I think she misses you a lot. Whenever we go to visit her, she keeps looking at the door and looks and me. I just shake my head and she closes her eyes locking up her tears." Beth replied.

I cried. I started crying my heart out. I miss her so much, her laugh, her eyes everything about her.

"Hey, Lexi. Do not cry. Please. You could come visit her."

"Yeah, I know. I will. We are having a two week break after our exams. Will visit then." I said sniffing.

"Okay. Please don't cry." She said.

"Yes. How are others? How is Jess doing?"

We spoke for a very long time and hung up when we thought we were sleepy.

We were done with our dinner and left to our rooms.

"I will be back in a few minutes." Jake said and disappeared into the washroom.

I closed my eyes and thought about how we met.

"May I have a dance with you?" He held out his hands.

"What's your name beautiful?"

"Al Alexis" I stuttered. He chuckled.

"I'm Jake Drago." I just smiled. He then looked at my lips and leaned closer. Before I could push him, he was pushed off me.

"Get your hands of her you asshole." Beth pushed him.

"Oh, little girl to the rescue."

"I'm not a little girl you Jackass."

Then I recalled Adrian punching him and I shook my head.

"What happened?" he asked and pulled me closer to him.

"Ah I was thinking of how we met."

"Oh, that was when my whole life changed." He sighed.

"What?" I asked facing him.

"Yeah. That is true." He kissed my forehead.

"Can I ask you something?"

"Anything." He replied.

"Why were you such an asshole at that time? You were about to kiss me."

"I was an asshole. Literally one. I was what you girls call a "man whore". I used girls like they were toys and that day when I saw what happened to you and how Adrian protected you, something clicked in my mind. And it all changed." He said.

"What did you see? The man who tried to.." I could not relive that memory again.

"Yes." He whispered.

"I was there when that happened. I came at the same time as Adrian. I was raged. I could see only fire. After that creep left, I found him and hit the shit out of him. I did not even care about his age. I felt satisfied after that, and then realized I was like him too." I shook my head no.
