Nightmare and his top three generals were bored. There was nothing to do and no plan on doing anything. The Star Sanses were getting better at defending worlds, which wasn't good for them. It didn't help that they were getting back up from other Sanses and such.

"Wanna make a bet?" Killer grumbled out, looking up to the dark ceiling.

The others mumbled a bit, but it didn't sound too bad.

"What's the bet?" The dark King groaned, sitting up properly.

Killer shrugged. He honestly didn't know what they would actually bet on.

"Why not bet on Cross?" That got the other's attention. "Lets see how long it takes for Cross to be completely smitten with Nightmare. Even more so with how long we can fool him."

The room was quiet for a moment, but they found the bet funny. No matter what, they all would be getting what they want, something fun to do.

"Alright. And how's this a bet?" Night raised his only eyebrow, placing his head on his fist.

"Three months." Dust's voice caught everyone off guard for a moment. "I bet it'll take him three months to fall in love with Nightmare."

Killer scoffed.

"I say a week."

"Nah, at least four months." Horror chuckled.

They were having fun now, grinning and smirking like the bastards they were.

Nightmare quietly shook his head, just letting them be. It was going to be fun.

The first week went by without much difference in Nightmare's behavior towards Cross, but that was the plan. The next week, he wasn't as violent to the pale skeleton. A couple weeks after that, he allowed the white clad skeleton cling to him longer.

He always changed subtle things about his behavior, making sure that it would be things Cross would notice. And he did notice.

Cross noticed every change, he noticed every glance in his direction with longing in that bright, cyan eye. He noticed how sometimes Nightmare would relax when he entered to room, or touch him softly. He noticed it all.

His soul fluttered and beat faster as he thought about it. He had dreamt of this, that his love for his Senpai would be returned! A smile broke out on his face, a deep purple blush appearing as his thoughts twisted.

"You do realize, Nightmare is probably pranking you?" The annoying ghost muttered, grumbling a bit to herself afterward. She hates seeing him like that.

The Codebreaker waved her off, he didn't care. As long as he got to believe he was loved, even for a short while, he'd be happy.

So, after nearly three months of this, Cross quietly confronted Nightmare. This of course was done in his office since the King wasn't well known for showing his feelings.

"Senpai, do you like me?" The smaller didn't use the word love, he knew better than to hope for that.

For a moment, the gooey skeleton said nothing, just having a bright, beautiful blush on his face. He then cleared his throat, turning his head away. He refused to answer.

Yet, his refusal just made Cross swoon, his eyelights shaping into hearts. He left that office looking like a love-sick fool. Killer saw this.

Quickly, he got the other two and they all went into Nightmare's office, who was shaking with laughter. The second that the door clicked shut, the laughter they all were holding back, burst out of them.
