Yoongi couldn't quite comprehend the scene that stood before him. Flames towered high, bursting through the research facility with relentless power as billowing smoke swirled into the pale sky. The fire tormented the trees that surrounded the area, causing panic to settle in the pit of Yoongi's stomach.
"Shit. This is bad."

The police had been summoned to the aerospace research facility as a suspected power surge had caused a fire to erupt suddenly in the centre of the large building. Blood curdling screams could be heard from within the facility where people were trapped inside, causing Yoongi to clench his jaw in anger and anxiety as the fire department was yet to arrive.

People. So many people.

The mint haired officer's social anxiety was bubbling inside of him as he wanted to help and do something, but he couldn't do anything without confronting someone. Gripping the material of his police dog's leash, he stood, awaiting for orders from the police official, but was relieved as the ear-splitting sound of sirens pierced through the crackling of the monstrous fire when two fire trucks finally approached.

His dog started barking suddenly, grasping the attention of her handler as Yoongi knelt down beside her.
"Kwan? What is it?" He whispered to the dog, who calmed down at his voice, pointing her body in the direction of the side of the building. Yoongi followed her signal with his eyes, his pupils contracting and his eyes widening at what he saw. A tall man with faded purple hair was running towards him, his body draped in a white lab coat that was scarred with soot markings, giving it a grey hue.

The stranger looked panicked, his expressions contorted in a way that showed immense fear as he approached Yoongi.
"Sir, are you alright?" Yoongi asked the man, who was panting wildly as he bent down and brought his hands to his knees, trying to catch his breath.
"Officer... I- I came to... warn you." The scientist spluttered through his words, and Yoongi raised an eyebrow and scoffed slightly.

Yet before the mint-haired man could say any more, the scientist stood tall and grabbed Yoongi by his shoulders, shaking him with mad tendencies.
"Take shelter. Hide. Grab anything you can. It's coming!" The man shouted, and before Yoongi could either push him off or think of a reply, the stranger let go of him and bolted away from the scene.

Yoongi stood there, both puzzled and horrified.
What could he have meant? What's coming? Yoongi didn't know, but it wouldn't be long until he'd find out.

A large bang sounded as an explosion caused debris to fly from the roof of the building, making all of the officers jump back and shield their heads in defence. The sudden sound made Yoongi jump slightly, which gave the leash just enough time to slip from his weakened grasp, and his dog bolted forwards, her rescue training instincts coming into play as she ran towards the screams inside of the building. Yoongi gasped in horror as she gained on the fire knowing that if the flames had one lick of her fur she'd be a goner.

"Kwan, stop!" He shouted, his feet rooted to the ground as he called after his companion. But his gun and stern demeanour wouldn't help now, there was nothing he could do, and he watched on helplessly.

Suddenly, a body threw themselves at the dog, diving forwards and grabbing her before she could go any further. Yoongi didn't notice himself releasing a big sigh of relief as he ran forwards towards the newcomer. It was a firefighter, who's mask prevented Yoongi from seeing their face. The firefighter handed the dog back to Yoongi, placing the leash in his hand.

"You really should be more careful." The firefighter groaned, and Yoongi rolled his eyes and frowned. He looked at the badge that sat on the firefighters' thick uniform.
'Taehyung'

"I know, I'm sorry. Thanks." Yoongi mumbled, and the firefighter nodded before turning to leave. Something inside him just told him to warn the firefighter, having a feeling he might regret if he didn't, despite his unwillingness to do anything.
"Wait!" Yoongi suddenly called out, his heart beating rapidly as Taehyung turned back around, his head tilted in both annoyance and confusion.
"Be careful. A scientist tried to warn me about something, and it sounded bad." Yoongi said, and the other stood there with a puzzled stance, before shrugging and turning to run into the building.

"Ugh, I hate people." Yoongi groaned, looking down at his dog as she stared back at him with big brown orbs. Just looking at her made him take a deep breath in as a soft smile began to creep over his lips. Nobody had ever been able to calm him down or soften his gaze, just Kwan.

The Labrador retriever had been with Yoongi for two years, aiding him as both a colleague and a loyal companion. She had training in the location of dangerous items, as well as finding and rescuing people in danger, but she was most important to Yoongi as a service dog. He wasn't just her handler, he was also her owner, and as an officer with severe social anxiety Kwan was more important to him than anyone. His lack of family didn't matter as long as he had her.

She would be able to sense when Yoongi was having a panic attack, or felt faint, and would lead the male to an area that had less people and was more quiet. When he did faint, she could run to get help, which just gave Yoongi a sense of security and safety. He didn't know what he would do without her, or how he would function, and only now realised that he was somewhat grateful to the mystery firefighter. Yet he didn't hold onto these thoughts for long, remembering how firefighters and policemen were a form of enemies in an alliance, always throwing dirt and shade on each other.

He was drawn out of his trance when his chief officer ordered for them all to leave the scene as it was under control and the fire department had taken over, and he released a deep sigh before making his way back to his police car.
Hopping into the front after putting Kwan in the back, he switched on the radio, which drowned out the soft hum of the car engine as he pulled away from the scene. Yet what he heard made a heavy feeling settle in the pit of his stomach, and the colour drained from his face as he gained a sudden urge to press his foot down on the accelerator.

"Asteroid? There's a fucking asteroid?!" He exclaimed, turning up the radio as he leant his focus to the chilling information. The mint-haired officer's usually cold and unbothered demeanour turned panicked and frustrated in the flick of a switch. He froze as he remembered the scientists words, and they began playing in his head like a broken record.

"Maybe he was right."
