"Yoongi, you take the ones on the left, I'll take the ones on the right." Jungkook said, running across the roof of the vehicle and aiming his rifle at the borgs.
"You got it." Yoongi replied, holding his pistol in front of his face as he aimed with complete precision.
Within seconds the air was filled with the sound of gunshots, the ear-splitting sounds echoing off of the walls of the buildings that surrounded them. One terrifying thing that borgs we're capable of was scuttling up and across walls like lizards hunting for prey. Yoongi noticed a particular alien crawling across the walls in their direction at an abnormally fast pace, and he immediately aimed for it, the bullet leaving the barrel and lodging itself into the borg's skull.
The aliens were dropping like flies at the mercy of their guns, Jungkook's assault rifle killing multiple in quick succession, yet there were just too many of them. From every wound that they administered, green bioluminescent blood spattered across the road, groans and gurgles creating a murmer as the cluster closed in.
"Jungkook, to your right!" Yoongi shouted suddenly as the raven-haired had not yet noticed the borg that was quickly approaching his form by scuttling across a nearby wall. Spinning around, Jungkook's impeccable aim sent three bullets straight into the borg's neck and back, piercing it's scales and making it scream out and fall from the wall in a defeated heap.
"Dude, they just keep coming." Yoongi gritted out as he shot one, two, three more of the aliens and watched as they dropped dead a few yards from the RV. Jungkook had also noticed that, although the cluster was now less dense, they were gradually getting closer and closer to the vehicle and putting all five of them in danger.
"Don't stop." Jungkook replied in a low voice, Yoongi nodding and sweeping the spare handgun from his belt as no more bullets fired from his pistol. Realising that he was currently running low on ammo, Yoongi just prayed that Jungkook had an idea to get them out of there as the borgs that were left came closer than ever. The sound of claws and scales scraping against the floor sent shiver down their spines, and Jungkook narrowed his eyes as he fired at a few more aliens.
"Hoseok, now!"
The orange haired male, who had finally been given the signal that he was anxiously waiting for, stamped his foot down hard on the pedal to make the RV reverse backwards at full speed.
The van jolted backwards, causing Yoongi to stumble on top of it and almost lose his footing, yet was caught by Jungkook just in time as the raven-haired grabbed his arm and pulled him down to crouch beside him on the roof.
"Hold on tight!" Hoseok shouted, gripping the steering wheel tightly and narrowing his eyes in determination as they became metres from colliding with the first of the aliens.
Blood-curdling shrieks and splintering cracks were heard as they ploughed through what was left of the cluster, crushing the aliens and throwing them aside. Hoseok tried hard to keep the vehicle in control as it bumped and skidded, with Leanne in the back trying to support Taehyung's unconscious body. To her horror, Leanne saw from out of the windows that live aliens were climbing up the sides of the RV, but what she was not expecting to hear was the sound of smashing glass as a particular alien punched a hand through the window.
She shielded her head as the glass fell over her and a clawed hand punched through. Although she was scared, she wouldn't let the creature harm her or Taehyung if she could help it. Swiping her katana from her sheath, she skilfully swung it across her front, chopping the creature's arm clean off and making it lose its grip on the van, falling onto the road in front before it could climb through. Breathing heavily, she ran to where the open sunroof was, cupping her hands either side of her mouth.
"Jungkook, Yoongi, watch out! They're climbing up the sides!" She shouted up to them with urgency, catching their attention almost immediately as the two noticed that she was right.
"Fuck!" Yoongi shouted, standing upright and jumping out of the way of a reaching hand, managing to shoot the alien before it could climb any higher. Jungkook went to shoot the ones on his side, but as his finger tightened over the trigger, not a sound was heard.
"Ugh!" Jungkook groaned in frustration, throwing the gun aside and getting into his defensive stance as he saw that Yoongi was also preoccupied. With no ammo he'd have to fight them off himself.
Holding his balance, he ran to the edge of the roof, raising his leg and sending his heel straight into the head of an awaiting borg. The creature fell with a thud, giving Jungkook just enough time to raise his fists to another that had quickly began climbing up next to him. Yet once he'd taken the second one down, he felt a hand wrap around his ankle, the third and final alien on his side trying to tug him off of the edge. He wouldn't be able to kick it without losing his balance, and was unable to free his leg from its strong grip as it began dragging him to the side.
Yoongi heard a frustrated grunt come from behind him, and spun around, his eyes widening as he noticed that Jungkook was in trouble. Closing one eye, Yoongi focused on the target, only taking a second to aim, shoot, and blow the creature's thin arm clean off, making it release its grip on Jungkook and fall limply to the road. Jungkook sighed in relief and gave a thumbs up to the other, realising that they were finally out of danger. They were quickly approaching the end of the road, so Jungkook shouted for Hobi to slow and stop the vehicle, the orange-haired male obliging.
With a quick backwards turn, they had exited the narrow road, now back where they were before they turned left and were met with a dead end. Hoseok released a deep sigh, chuckling from hysterics due to the excess adrenaline in his body. He lessened his grip on the steering wheel, resting his head on the plastic as he calmed himself down.
"Is everyone alright?" Leanne called from the back, receiving a thumbs up from Hobi and calls of confirmation from the two that were on the roof.
With a loud thud, Jungkook and Yoongi jumped back through the sun roof one after the other, Yoongi instinctively laying on the RV floor as he was overcome with exhaustion.
"I'm exhausted." Yoongi said, panting. Leanne looked over at him and rolled her eyes.
"I'm not surprised. You really shouldn't be working your body this hard considering you were malnourished a few days ago." She said with a sigh, Yoongi purposefully ignoring her.
"Thanks for your help back there." Jungkook said to Yoongi, extending a hand to the smaller man as he helped him up.
"No problem." Yoongi said with a shrug, reloading his weapons and placing them back in the weapon store. The mint-haired man went over to the passenger seat, sitting down and looking over at the person who sat beside him.
"Nice work Hoseok." Yoongi said in a low voice, avoiding eye contact as the other looked at his with a surprised expression at the compliment.
"Oh, Thanks Yoongi. You too." Hoseok replied, smiling a little to himself as he saw Yoongi's shy side.
Jungkook exhaled deeply as he watched Yoongi start to discuss the new route with Hoseok, the RV moving slowly forwards this time. The raven-haired moved gradually towards the back of the vehicle, bending down to help Leanne who was picking bits of glass up off of the floor.
"Did you get attacked?" Jungkook asked her with a frown, throwing the glass out of the broken window.
"Almost, it's was okay though. The creature couldn't get close enough to touch either of us." She said with a sure smile, signalling towards Taehyung who still lay peacefully across the chair.
"Thank God for that. You're not hurt?" Jungkook asked, Leanne shaking her head.
"I'm completely fine. How about you and Yoongi?" She asked, Jungkook shaking his head.
"Unscathed luckily." He replied, Leanne sighing in relief.
"Well, I guess that'll keep us on our toes then! That was quick thinking Jungkook." She praised, giving one last smile and moving away so that the raven-haired could sit next to Taehyung's unconscious form. He looked across at the other three who stood at the front, sighing as only one thought plagued his mind.
Things were only gonna get harder from here.
