"Hey, are you okay?" Jungkook asked with urgency, running in with Yoongi after checking that the aliens were all, indeed, dead.
"I'm alright, thanks to you guys." She said with a large sigh, placing her hand over her gradually calming heart. The others looked relieved at her words, glad that she at least wasn't seriously injured.
"I see your ankle, I'll grab a first aid kit." Yoongi said, going over to the front of the RV where the medical supplies were kept once he'd noticed that she was bleeding a little.
"Nice head shot by the way." Hobi mentioned, nodding towards Yoongi, who couldn't help but smile a little as he shrugged.
"Lucky shot I guess.""And I think that was a lot more eventful than what any of us were hoping for." Hobi added with a groan, allowing Leanne to lean against him as they sat side-by-side on the sofa. Jungkook hummed in agreement, his brows knitting together as a frown overtook his lips.
"I've never seen so many cynoid's together at once. I reckon they're getting stronger." He said, and the others frowned at his statement, already knowing that it must be true.
"And smarter. It's kinda worrying." Leanne added, and Jungkook sighed and looked up at her.
"I'm sorry if I grabbed your arms to harshly, I was too focused on getting you out of that situation." Jungkook apologised as Yoongi bent down and bandaged Leanne's ankle, but the girl just simply smiled."I'd be dead if you hadn't thought so quickly, so please don't apologise. I must thank you. I don't think I've ever faced death quite so head-on." She mumbled, the others frowning at her words.
"I think we're really starting to see why Jungkook is a squad leader now." Hoseok chuckled, Leanne and Yoongi humming in agreement.
"Yeah kid, you surprised me." Yoongi added, and Jungkook smiled a little."I'm just glad that everyone's alright. That was too close for my liking, so I say that we devise a plan of action to get on the move." He said, and Hoseok and Leanne were quick to lighten up due to Hoseok's revelation the evening prior.
"We have an idea, if you don't mind us suggesting." Leanne said, and Yoongi nodded while Jungkook gave them a somewhat impressed look, leaning onto a counter across from them.
"Sure, I'm all ears."Leanne nodded to Hobi to allow him to explain.
"I overheard some stuff at South Camp that might give us some ideas to move forward as a squad. We all know that humanity is crumbling at the hands of the aliens, so we need to find a way to fight back, right?" Hoseok said, the others nodding, all apart from Yoongi who rolled his eyes and sighed.
"Yeah, but for two years have humans been trying to find a way to fight back, and no one has succeeded. Besides, I don't think a small squad like ours could make even a little difference." The mint-haired male said, and Hobi looked at him."Just try being a little positive for me, just once, please? How about a little smile?" He pleaded as he batted his eyelashes, and Yoongi groaned in disgust, rolling his eyes.
"Fuck no. Hurry up and finish what you were saying, or whatever." He mumbled, and Hoseok chuckled a little, before getting back to it.
"Basically, one of the guys who was attacking Jungkook mentioned about two researchers coming from a distant city with supplies and information. It is known that they travel alone, so we could offer to help them and maybe use their expertise and our strength to find a meaning, or even a stop to all of this." Hoseok explained, the others clearly deep in thought at his words."It'll be risky and may not work, but then again, what do we have to lose?" Jungkook said, looking around and receiving nods and shrugs of affirmation.
"They're arriving at East Camp I suppose?" Jungkook assumed, receiving a positive nod from the orange-haired.
"Yes, and in two days. So if we're going to go we need to start planning now." Leanne added, and Jungkook sighed.
"Let's plan a route. There's a map at the front, but I'm no navigator." Jungkook mumbled, and Yoongi just rolled his eyes pushed past him."I've seen places from the city and far from it through the past two years. I've been part of an old squad and have even been in an outcast group in the city once, so I know my way around. I'll navigate." He said confidently, the others accepting his offer as he was the best chance that they had.
"Okay then, it's settled. But I suggest that we spend today searching for sanberries. We can't afford to take this risk without emergency supplies." Jungkook announced, everybody taking his word and moving to prepare for the long and dangerous journey ahead."Yes, I agree. We only have one sanberry left, which is hardly enough to completely get rid of the poison in someone's bloodstream, especially if it's not caught fast enough. We must scavenge the nearby valley, it's our best bet of finding some, but they're becoming more scarce to this day." Hobi said, and Jungkook agreed, meaning that they now had a plan on their hands.
Yoongi walked towards the front compartments of the RV, and after a little rummaging he had located and retrieved the map that Jungkook had mentioned. He pulled it out and I rolled in on the floor, holding each curling end open with a hand. Looking into the distance, a few skyscapers could be seen in the distance, their large sillouhettes flourishing against the soft morning skyline.
"We're here." Yoongi said, noticing the others crowd behind him and peer over his shoulder."There are three routes we can take, but not one of them avoids the city." He said with a sigh, pulling a red marker pen from his jacket pocket. He drew three lines on the parchment, each one indicating a different route through the old buildings of the city.
"We can't travel through the north side of the city because it's completely infested, and the west side is treacherous, so we're best cutting through at a south-east angle to get there as fast as possible." Yoongi explained, dragging his fingertips along the map to support his description."I believe East Camp is somewhere over here, so I guess we've just gotta evaluate which route is our best bet for minimal run-ins." Yoongi said, drawing a red 'x' at their chosen destination.
"Leanne and i generally travel past the old industrial estate at the edge of the city, but last time we travelled we had a confrontation with a lot of borgs, and the old factories don't look too stable to be around." Hobi said, and Yoongi nodded, crossing off the shortest of the lines towards the edge of the city."Okay, we're down to two routes now. This one is more likely to have rebel groups nearby, but the other is by a river, and we all know what that means." Yoongi said with a serious look, the others understanding immediately.
"Aquoids." Leanne breathed. Aquoids were terrible creatures. Giant, squid-like beings with shark teeth and a spike on each tentacle. They were truly huge and all the more terrifying, and were located in large bodies of water, such as rivers. To make matters worse, they attack at any time, night and day, and are able to camouflage to any environment. Luckily they were only ever found on their own and not in groups, but a run-in with one of those could destroy the RV, let alone endanger them all."Personally, i think the less aquoids the better."
Hobi mumbled, the others hearing the fear in his voice.
"I agree. I suggest that we take the route that's farthest from the river." Jungkook said, and Yoongi nodded, swiftly drifting the pen across the map once more to highlight their chosen route.
"Okay, sounds good. If we leave this evening we would get there by nightfall of tomorrow." Yoongi said, the others clapping their hands together and nodding."Let's get going."
