Korea, Asia - 15 February
Time ~ 11:30 am

Namjoon placed his elbows on his desk, putting his face in his hands as he rubbed the tiredness from his eyes. Being a head scientist at an aerospace research facility in Korea was tough work, and recently it just felt like it was dragging on as they analysed and studied each of the functioning satellites in orbit. Pulling his hands away, he turned his head to stare at the clock. Each tick of a second was painful to the purple-haired man as he sat in front of his computer, working at least twelve hours a day. The brilliant white of the facility's walls hurt his tired eyes as he glanced around himself, practically hoping that something interesting would happen for once.

Let's just say, this wasn't the 'interesting' he was looking for.

Just as he turned back to the screen, the pixels flickered as if each one was being turned off and on individually, and his eyes widened when his screen and around five others from around him completely shut off.

"We've lost connection with over 20 satellites!" One of his colleagues gasped, jumping up from her chair and pointing at her now black screen. Worried murmurs began filling the room, which turned into exclamations of panic as an alarm went off. It's piercing ring filled everyone with terror as they all knew that the alarm would only sound in a true emergency.
"Fuck, fuck, FUCK!"

All scientists turned their heads to the doorway as a panicked male ran in, pointing to some documents in his hand.
"A meteorite has changed its course and is heading straight for earth! W-we don't know how, t-there must have been some unknown force that wrenched it out of the sun's orbit!" The man announced in a shaky voice, sending everyone in the room into a state of complete shock and fear. It just didn't make sense.
"Which asteroid?" Namjoon questioned calmly, but he was not prepared for the response.
"Ida."

Namjoon's eyes widened and his heart sunk at his words. Ida was a large asteroid, originally part of the asteroid belt, and with a diameter of 15km it was twice the length of Mount Everest and 46 times the height of the Eiffel Tower. The purple-haired scientist pulled at his hair; a strike from an object of this size would surely put the whole of humanity at a loss. It may not even vaporise or explode as it hits the Earth's atmosphere, hitting it head on with a force entirely unimaginable. This would cause drastic shockwaves to wipe out the land, teamed with boiling seas and an earthquake that would torment the Earth's crust for at least an hour. He grabbed the man's shoulder firmly, meeting him with a harsh stare.

"How long do we have?"
"Th-three hours, sir."
Namjoon just hoped that his ears and mind were deceiving him as he ran to the middle of the room, waving around his arms and shouting to gain the attention of all other people in the research room.

"I don't want anybody panicking! Nothing will get done if we panic. I want you to call the army and tell them about the impact site and timings, and then I want every one of you to leave and take shelter! Do you hear me?" He shouted, earning hurried nods in response as all of them ran around like insects to try and get the work done in time. Time was of the essence, and it was as if the concept of time was against the whole of humanity at this point, teasing and torturing them. Yet the unimaginable happened when the lights and the rest of the computer screens began also flashing, before a large bang could be heard.

Namjoon was flown backwards by the sudden explosion, his back hitting the wall forcefully, making him grunt in pain. His vision blurred, yet he could already see the chaos that was erupting before him. Fire was leaking from the electricity room, flames reaching around and spreading like the hands of a monster. Despite feeling faint, Namjoon found himself scurrying to his feet, helping as many people outside as he could as the flames grew quickly around the room. A deafening screach made him cringe at the sound as he looked up to see what uttered it, eyes widening as he saw that the roof was about to cave in.

"Look out!" He screamed as he dragged two other people out behind him, jumping out of the way and only just managing to exit the building in time before rubble and debris fell heavily behind him. Screams of his colleagues and employees could be heard from those who were not so lucky, causing his heart to feel like it was going to burst out of his chest. All he could do was hurry away and make sure that the emergency services were called, and that he warned as many people as possible about the devastation that was to come. Yet if you told someone about a 15km asteroid heading for Earth, would you believe them right away?

The purple-haired male stumbled to his feet the moment he saw the police had arrived, and he ran from the side of the building to try and get away. He had to take shelter.

The cool air flowed through his white lab coat that flew behind him like a cape, his eyes landing on an officer not too far from him. Mad with shock, he bent down to catch his breath, ignoring the startled mint-haired man's queries on whether he was alright or not.
"Officer... I- I came to... warn you." He spluttered, frustrated but not surprised as the officer gave him an incredulous look and then scoffed to himself. Drunk with nerves he grabbed the officer's shoulders, shaking them roughly and ignoring how crazy he must have looked when viewing from another perspective.

"Take shelter. Hide. Grab anything you can. It's coming!" He shouted, before turning and bolting off in the other direction, leaving the officer to his own thoughts and confusion. Namjoon didn't do anything but run.

He had to take shelter.
