"Step on the gas will you?!" Hoseok screamed from the back of the truck, swinging his newly-sharpened axe from side to side as he fought the humanoids off of his truck.
"I'm going as fast as I can!" Leanne replied in frustration from the drivers' seat, pressing her foot to the floor with the accelerator pedal.
"Hang on Hobi, I'm gonna try something!"

Leanne clutched the leather steering wheel tight enough to make her fingers go white as she turned with all her might, ploughing at dangerous speeds through the grass as they made a sharp left. Hobi successfully managed to fight the last of them off, and gave a sigh of relief as he spun his axe skilfully in his hands before sliding it back onto his back. He climbed through the rear window of the truck, sitting on the passenger seat and allowing his body to relax a little.

"We've been driving for ten minutes and there was already a small cluster! I told you we should have driven in sunlight." Leanne exclaimed, sighing in relief the moment Hoseok was safely back in the truck.
"It's fine, it was just a few borgs after all. But to be honest I think they're getting stronger, I've never seen borgs run so fast in my life." Hoseok explained, but his voice was still shaking despite his unbothered tone.

Ever since the meteor had struck earth, a lot more had been carried with it than earthquakes and fire. A lot more.

The impact had wiped out almost all human life on Earth, over 99% at that, crumbling buildings and sending everything into chaos. Lava had taken over a lot of the world, and temperatures fluctuated vigorously for months on end. Africa and most of Europe had been entirely destroyed, some parts in Asia and the West of America being the only places that still looked somewhat intact. But human civilisation wasn't. The few who were able to survive were hit with something even more unexpected than the meteor itself. Aliens.

The 15km hunk of rock had carried extra-terrestrial life forms with it, giving them uninvited access to the Earth's terrain. The aliens, known as heptoids, were humanoid creatures - terrifyingly grotesque beings that took over what was left of the damned planet. What's worse is that they had a thirst. A hunger for flesh and blood. And not just any blood; but human blood.

The heptoids were split into four species. Aquoids, Borgs, Cynoids and Draths. Each of these creatures had a different appearance, different danger rating, and different tendencies to when and where they would be located. Yet one terrifying thing that they all had in common was 'the spike'. Each alien would have a spike located on one of its extremities, a cone shaped attachment that was pearly white in colour. But the reason humans fear it so much is that it was filled with a concentrated form of poison. If a human was to be stabbed or even grazed by said spike, the poison would reach the bloodstream in quick succession, and can kill a man within a day if correct treatment isn't applied.

The only cure for the blood poisoning found at these times was to eat a sanberry or simply ingest it's juices, located on alien plants that began sprouting scarcely after impact day. Getting your hands on sanberries was tricky work, as they were rare, with most being guarded by aliens or farmed by camps, and they were only found on dangerous terrain. At this point, going out was a deadly lottery, whether you were armed or not. It was very rare to come across people, but Korea was thought to be the only place that inhabited any people at all, in squads, bases, camps or outcasted groups.

Hoseok and Leanne were survivors, soloists that escaped a small camp after it was completely destroyed by a cluster. A cluster was a large horde of aliens, often starving and hungry, that would group together to tear down communities and devour all within. The two of them only just managed to escape by stealing a nearby truck in the camp, which was lucky as over fourty aliens had raided the area that day, and they sadly believed themselves to be the only survivors.

Leanne saw Hoseok deep in thought, and looked away from the windscreen to smile at him. Patting the dashboard, she released a long sigh.
"This truck has sure been through a lot, I'm glad that it was able to pull through." She said, thinking back to their encounter at the old camp. Hoseok turned to her and shared a smile.
"Yeah, it's holding up better than that jet did." He laughed, the two of them now chuckling.

"I didn't mean to almost crash it, there was nowhere safe to land!" Leanne laughed defensively. They had stayed in the air when the impact happened, waiting for the earthquake to pass before landing. This was risky because of the lack of fuel, and the ongoing fear of large pieces of flaming rock being thrown through the air for days didn't help. They somehow managed to get out unscathed, despite a bumpy landing, all three of them were fine.
Hoseok dropped the smile at the thought.

'All three of them'.

They hadn't seen Jungkook since they had arrived back in Korea. After scurrying off to find a safe place in a cave nearby where they had landed, they ended up finding out that the raven-haired boy had not followed them. Worried for his welfare, especially because of his injury, Hoseok and Leanne had searched for him, but to no avail. Hobi still carries the regrets of leaving him for those few minutes, fearing to this day that the boy may be dead. As if she had read his mind, Leanne placed a comforting hand on her friends' thigh, patting it gently.

"Just focus on now Hobi, okay?" She said softly, smiling as the warmth came back over Hoseok's face and he nodded.
"Yeah, of course. Let's find a place to stay the night." He said, earning a hum of agreement from the other as they drove out, as far away from any crumbling buildings and old communities as they could to ensure it was as safe as possible.

It was always more dangerous at night.
