After running into the woods at full speed, Jungkook knew exactly what he had to do. He believed that he needed to earn his position as leader, because he felt like a useless addition to the team as all of the others had some form of talents or did incredible things. He didn't want things to end up like his last squad, and so he will put the others first before him, and prove his position by helping out the others.

And inevitably putting himself at the hands of extreme danger.

Knowing that he needed to get as far away from the others as possible in order to protect them, he ran as deep into the thick woods as he could in a short amount of time, only stopping once he'd found himself surrounded by densely packed trees.
"Here's to hoping that this works." He sighed to himself, not taking any time to catch his breath as he whipped the hand grenade from his belt, lifting it to his mouth and pulling the pin out with his teeth.

"Here goes nothing." He muttered, exhaling deeply and counting down in his head, before throwing the small bomb up and away from himself, running in the opposite direction for a few meters and pressing his hands over his ears as a loud explosion sounded. He smiled to himself for a moment as he was certain that it was loud enough for the draths to hear. But then reality hit him.

Now what.

Perhaps he should have thought this through a little more before running in, but he was so determined to help the team and get the job done that he hadn't exactly though of a good way to escape the oncoming hoard of deadly aliens.
"Fuck."

To his horror, it wasn't long until he could hear the quick footsteps of the draths approaching, twigs and leaves crunching under their clawed feet as they scurried towards him at a terrifying pace, so running and limping like humans would, some on all fours. Surrounded by trees and thick shrubbery, he had nowhere to go, and surely nowhere to hide as they began closing in. The ground almost seemed to rumble underfoot as if a stampede of bulls was approaching, and filled with a sudden feeling of helplessness and panic, Jungkook whipped his twin pistols from his belt, pointing them in the direction of the unsettling sounds that the distant draths were making.

He forced his hands to stop shaking by clutching onto the guns tightly, pointing them in any direction that he saw movement. The colour drained from his skin as he started to notice the first silhouettes moving swiftly between the trees, their dark grey forms merging within the shadows and making it hard to make them out at all. He began to shoot, piercing screeches and otherworldly sounds bouncing off of the trees, the echo of the bullets almost drowned out from the eerie noises that surrounded him. No matter how far he stood from the explosion site, they could sense him.

But Jungkook knew he was at a loss. He wouldn't have enough bullets, let alone enough time to reload his guns as the creatures came more into view, almost close enough to dart out and grab him with their wandering arms. He couldn't run or move a muscle; they'd hear him and only kill him faster. His breathing quickened and muscles stiffened as he realised that there was now no way out of this, wishing that he had thought of something less... well... stupid, because he was now in nothing but serious trouble. In his state of panic he even thought he heard someone call out his name in the chaos, but it was all a blur to him. Jungkook was frozen; he hadn't felt this scared in years. No, he was absolutely petrified. Yet before a scream could leave his lips as a drath jumped out from a nearby tree for an attack, another gunshot sounded, it's body falling limp at his feet.

"Hey, Kook! For fuck's sake, grab on!"

Jungkook darted his eyes up to see none other than Taehyung sitting on a thick tree branch up high, the older leaning down with an arm outstretched to Jungkook. He'd brought a rope with him, and had managed to climb a tree with it considering that the branches of the trees were mostly far too high to jump and grab, and that was their only way of getting away from the monsters that surrounded them. Snapping himself back to his senses, the raven-haired ran over, jumping up in an instant to grab Taehyung's hand. The moment Taehyung felt Jungkook's hand brush his own, he grasped his wrist tightly, Jungkook doing the same to make the grip stronger, and Taehyung started to pull him upwards. Jungkook desperately put his feet on the tree's trunk to lessen his weight as Taehyung pulled him up, the older grunting and straining but not daring to let go.
