Just as they had hoped, emerging from the trees met them with a sight that they had anticipated for. Within the near-distance, an abandoned and dystopian-looking village sat between the hills, ashamed and dull against the green relief of the rolling countryside. Sights like this would really maybe you think back to when civilisation thrives, bustling cities towering proudly and town centres filled with the chatter and murmurs of people.

But they were met with absolute silence.

It was almost a heartbreaking silence. I hurt to know that the people who once inhabited this small village were most likely dead, killed by the secondary effects of the meteorite or by the aliens themselves. A sign hung precariously on the face of a crumbling clock tower, the name of the deserted village displayed in rusted letters that were barely decipherable.

"Baneville? I would say that's a rather fitting name." Hoseok scoffed, a chuckle heard from both Leanne and Jimin at his statement as their feet were met with dirty bricks and cracked tarmac. They didn't need a warning from anyone to know that aliens could be hiding around any corner, many heptoids having taken refuge within man-made structures either to hunt or for shelter.

However, staying somewhere like this could end up being rather on the safe side of things. A simple roof and a wall could prevent aliens from finding them altogether, and a cluster could just pass through if they were quiet enough. Supplies would likely be plentiful here, but any unknown rebel groups or trackers could still locate them if they weren't careful.

That meant that no one was surprised when two borgs could be spotted through an old shop window, the aliens not even having a chance to break out to them before two gunshots through the window pane made them drop dead immediately. Jungkook lowered Yoongi's gun, putting his own pistol back in his belt with a sigh.
"I say we keep the noise down for as long as possible. We don't know what could stir at our arrival." Jungkook said to the group, earning a few thumbs up and nods in response.

A cold breeze weaved between the dull buildings, abusing Yuri's flimsy attire as she huddled closer to Jimin and shivered a little.
"Chim, I feel a little faint." She said in a voice only just quiet enough for Jimin to hear, the blonde male wrapping and arm around her waist and pressing a kiss to her head.
"Not far now baby, hold on a little longer." He mumbled back, his girlfriend humming and nodding.

To their relief, Leanne had soon pointed out a small and isolated cottage towards the edges of the village. The building was almost entirely in tact, with complete doors and windows which would give them a chance to hide and maybe even keep some warmth in as winter approached. With one swift movement, the heel Jungkook's military boot had landed with force on the frame of the old wooden door, the old timber giving way almost immediately at the strong impact.

Gun raised above his face, he was the first to step inside the dark house, met with a feeling of pleasant surprise and relief as no aliens seemed to inhabit the small building, and the furniture inside was in decently good condition.
"Clear." Jungkook announced to the squad, everyone now quickly making their way into the house and dumping the equipment in the dusty floor.

"I'll see if I can get the water running." Hoseok said, moving off with Leanne to check on the pipes once he'd got the nod from Jungkook. Jin had been quick to open one of the nearby doors to check for a satisfactory bedroom, turning back to the others when he found one on the first try.
"Yuri, you can rest in here, hun. You look like you're about to drop dead any second." Jin ushered, his doctor-side coming through as Yuri nodded gratefully and slowly shuffled into the bedroom, wobbling unsteadily on her feet, before collapsing onto the bed.

Jimin walked in after her, sitting on the bed and running a hand through her hair.
"I'm fine Chim, don't look so worried." She smiled tiredly, closing her eyes as Jimin frowned above her.
"Go and help the others. I'm a big girl, I can look after myself." She said with a chuckle, Jimin smiling and leaning down to kiss her forehead before standing to leave.

"You're sure you'll be alright?" He asked, knowing that Yuri would have rolled her eyes at him if she had the energy to open them.
"I'm just tired Chim. I'll be ready to help out by tomorrow." She reassured. Honestly she felt awful for having been injured and exhausted, and not because of the pain, but because she felt like a deadweight to the team. She promised herself that she'd do her best to help and get back on her feet so that she could train harder and work more, and after years spent trying to gain a more muscular build, she sure as hell wasn't gonna let it go to waste.

Jimin then left the room, only to hear sudden shouts from upstairs. Worried that someone was in trouble, his legs carried him upstairs quicker than he thought they could, almost breaking into hysterics as he was met with a scene in the bathroom.
"Lee! I told you not to twist that fucking pipe!"
"Not to?! I thought you told me to!"
"Ugh, this is why I'm the engineer."
"You're a motor engineer Hobi, not a plumber. And it really shows, horse-face."

A burst pipe was spraying water directly into the faces of the two who were attempting to get the water running again, neither of them noticing Jimin approach them due to their heated argument until the blonde male was in fits of laughter at the door.
"You guys need a towel?" He joked, Hoseok rolling his eyes as Leanne just gave a sheepish smile.

"No. We have it all under control." Hoseok said through gritted teeth, Jimin raising his eyes brows and crossing his arms over his chest as he leant against the doorframe.
"Yeah, sure looks like it." Jimin scoffed, Hoseok groaning in frustration and kicking the pipe harshly. By some stroke of incredible luck, he managed to kick the pipe back into the correct position, the water no longer spewing from the pipe. Hoseok himself played off his shock with a smug look and a cocky head tilt.
"See, all under control."

Now all three of them were laughing, and Jimin left the two best friends to continue with their antics as he made his way back downstairs. A warm and welcoming smell from the kitchen caused Jimin's skin, that was originally ashen with tiredness, to flush a more healthy and peachy hue, the boy following his nose to the kitchen where none other than Jin was bent over the stove. Taehyung, Jungkook and Namjoon were sat at the small and old walnut table in the corner of the petite room, warm cups of coffee cradled between their hands as they chatted between themselves.

"Hi Jimin." Jungkook said with a smile, the older smiling back before raising his eyebrows and looking around the room.
"Since when do we have coffee?" Jimin chuckled, leaning over the pot that Jin had taken from a nearby cupboard, his eyes widening further. "And noodles?!"

Jin chuckled, turning from the rusted stove to face the blonde-haired male, rhythmically tapping the edge of the metal pot with a wooden spoon as he did so.
"To our luck the stove still appears to have gas, and we found a thing or two in the cupboards." Jin explained, Jimin nodding and turning back to those at the table as he heard Taehyung audibly shudder.
"And a whole load of spiders." The brunette added in an oddly fearful voice, both Jimin and Jungkook chuckling at that.

"Turns out that Taehyung is very afraid of spiders." Jungkook laughed, wincing as Taehyung whined and hit his arm out of embarrassment.
"I really don't see what there is to be scared of. They're practically harmless, and besides, only about ten percent of spider bites actually lead to necrotic skin lesions." Namjoon stated, Taehyung's eyes widening and his hair standing on end at his words.

"That's ten percent too much." Taehyung grumbled with a shiver, watching as Jin raised a hand to clip the back of Namjoon's head.
"Joon, don't go freaking the kids out." The eldest sighed, his husband rubbing the back of his head and mumbling an apology. The other three were amused by the older couple's behaviour, and how Jin had started acting like an overprotective parent since they had crossed the river, but truthfully no one was gonna question it or complain.

Jungkook chuckled and leaned towards Taehyung.
"I didn't expect you of all people to be afraid of little spiders." He whispered, trying to hold back his laughter as the older turned to him with a sharp glare.
"Shut up." He grumbled, the younger deciding that he'd teased Taehyung enough as the brunette was flushed from embarrassment.
Jin then turned back to Jimin, sending the shorter male a nod to the door.

"Wake Yoongi and Yuri up, dinner is almost ready."
