Tanzania, Africa - 15 February
Time ~ 12:35 pm"Sir! Reports say we only have a couple of hours until impact, we need to go, now!" The captain called to his lieutenant, sheer panic thrown through his words as his loud voice pierced through the sounds of panicked soldiers running left and right. The lieutenant turned to him, and all who looked at him at that moment would know they had lost hope.
The lieutenant's eyes were almost fearful, an expression that would never be seen to take over his stern, cold features."Sir? Orders? What are your orders?!" The captain called, and the large, stern man gave him a serious look.
"We all must evacuate this instant! I want everybody to try and reach the border. Leave the equipment!" He shouted, grasping the attention of all who could hear his booming voice. Word got around until the whole military was running around frantically like ants to an ant hill; a scene of utter chaos.Looking up at the auburn sky, the glowing death spot was growing gradually in size, it's distant appearance succeeding in shaking the confidence out of any man who set eyes upon it. The African military, as well as some foreign soldiers, had been summoned to this spot immediately after a science bay in South America had placed an emergency call. It was a Code Red. The most dangerous of events.
An asteroid, said to be currently an unreadable size, had been spotted hurtling is great mass in the direction of earth. It's course had been changed unexpectedly by some unknown force, causing great confusion and panic to settle through humanity as it gained on the precious planet. A meteor of this size hadn't hit the earth in the duration of the human race, and was likely it would destroy at least the country entirely; a dire situation. It was the job of the military to get all citizens to leave the country, even better, the continent. But alas, their powers had been underestimated, and they were all put in the hands of grave danger.
Back towards the west borders of Tanzania, much of the military was distributed there in order to make sure that citizens left the country safely. There were about a hundred of them in one spot, trudging through the sand as they looked out upon the barren landscape that stood in front of them. One cadet in particular had his gaze drawn to the sky, his doe eyes not leaving the bright spot that stood so prominently on the blank blue canvas above him. It was taunting him.
At only eighteen, life training in the military to become a professional in the future was extremely hard and taxing work, but this one bright spot in the sky both scared and intrigued him more than anything he'd ever experienced before. The air was warm and dry, but not quite as dry as his throat as he stared in awe at the panicked people around him. Never had he seen such chaos, but considering the circumstances, he believed it was well-deserved.
Glancing at him, his natural aesthetic could be described by one word.
Coffee.
His hair was a raven shade, the colour of a strong espresso, whereas his skin was the colour of a pale latte. His perfect complexion mixed so seamlessly with his soft features and chocolate eyes, and when his lips were parted you could see the milky white of his bunny teeth peering through. One look at him would wake you up in the morning, standing there looking so innocent yet so powerful at the same time.He took in a deep breath, before releasing the air in the direction of his forehead, blowing the dark hair out of his eyes momentarily before it settled back over them. It wasn't often that he'd just be able to get a moment to himself and let his body breathe. At least, not after recent events. Not after their recent battle-
"Jungkook!"The boy turned his head, only for his gaze to fall on a familiar blonde-haired boy jogging over to him. He felt somewhat glad that someone had pulled him out of his thoughts.
"Have you heard anything about the lieutenant's orders?" His fellow cadet asked, and Jungkook shook his head, his raven hair bouncing as he did so.
"No Jimin, this is serious though. I have a really bad feeling." Jungkook muttered, clutching his rifle tightly in his hands as Jimin sighed. As if their minds had been read, Jungkook's radio began mumbling with static, and he grabbed it, anxious with anticipation as he pulled it from his belt.
"Ca-... Cadet Jeon!"
The voice of his commander came through like a knife, but the static was making it hard to make out what he was saying."Sir?" Jungkook replied, clutching the object firmly as he held it near to his ear.
"G- out of th-...!"Jungkook froze in place, a chill being sent straight down his spine as he picked up on the underlying fear of his commander's words.
"Sir?! What is going on?" Jungkook called back through the radio, his heart palpitating painfully against his ribs as Jimin stood silently beside him. Suddenly, the static noise stopped, the sound from the other end coming through clearly. Both Jungkook and Jimin could hear the sound of tyres pummelling the sand, along with terrified shouts.
"It's way bigger than we thought! This is not a drill, you need to get overseas!" His commander shouted, and Jungkook's breath hitched.
'We should have stayed in Korea.'
It was as if everybody had got the message simultaneously because soldiers began bolting towards the helicopters and trucks, all sharing the same expression of sheer panic."Shit!" Jungkook cursed, grabbing Jimin's wrist and dragging him behind him, moving his tired legs as fast as they would go.
"Jungkook! What do we do?" Jimin shouted from behind him, his fearful voice only just managing to reach Jungkook's ears. Yet Jungkook stayed silent, only focused on making his way towards the vehicles that were being roughly bombarded by people. The trucks gained a crowd consisting of people shouting and tearing each other down, practically trampling on each other. It's funny how they're all fighting for the same thing, but it suddenly became an 'every man for himself' scenario. Jungkook pushed through the crowd, his firm grip still on Jimin's wrist as he pulled the blonde boy forwards from behind him. He crouched down, ready to help lift Jimin into the truck.
"Hyung, get in!" Jungkook shouted to him, offering assistance as Jimin looked at him with an expression of terror.
"What about you?" Jimin cried, and Jungkook shook his head dismissively.
"I'll be fine. Just get in the truck!" He repeated, and Jimin sighed, knowing that he couldn't do anything else but allow Jungkook to help him into the back of the truck.Once he had hopped into the back, the roar of the engine could be felt through his feet as the metal began vibrating vigorously. He was pushed over by a larger soldier who had jumped in after him, and he was knocked onto his knees. The blonde boy stood up slowly, but turned in horror as the truck began pulling away.
Without Jungkook.
