Chapter 45: I'm Sorry

Third Person's POV

It was another new but sad day for Amber Bubbles Aguilar.

6th months na siya ngayong nasa hospital ang there were no signs of improvement from her disease. Kitang kita na din ang panghihina ng katawan ni Amber.

She was very thin now kasi kahit anong pilit niyang kumain hindi niya na kaya. She was trying very hard na makahinga kaya kahit kumain man lang hindi niya na nagagawa. The doctor's adviced na dapat daw kumakain pa rin si Amber. She needs to be healthy kung gusto niya daw talagang gumaling.

Everybody was always hoping na gagaling pa si Amber. But Amber herself? She already accepted her fate. Tanggap na tanggap niya na kung ano ang kakahantungan niya. It was sad. But she accepted it anyway. 

"Ayaw mo ba talagang magpatransplant hija?" her doctor asked and Amber smiled sadly

"A.....ayoko po" Amber said politely and bowed her head

The doctor was pained to see na pati si Amber ay sumuko na din. She gave up the fight and just waited patiently for her to die.

"Pero hija, this can help you. Kung maging successful ang operation mo, you'll live a longer life" the doctor pointed out but Amber shook her head

"Y....yun.....na nga po eh. Wala tayong.......kasiguraduhan k....kung ma...magi....ging successful yung......o... operation ko."

The doctor sighed in defeat. He tried his very best to stop from crying. Marami na siyang naging pasyente na kagaya ni Amber and he never shed lots of tears para sa namatay na pasyente. But he didn't know kung ano ang kakaiba kay Amber.

He was really sad for the young lady. Siguro kasi napalapit na din siya sa bata. Ever since Amber was born, siya na ang doctor na nagchecheck kay Amber from time to time dahil sa heart disease nito. O baka kasi alam din ng doctor na may nobyo ito na maiiwan kapag namatay.

Tumayo ang doctor at tiningnan kung gumagana ang machine.

"Just rest, Amber. Call the nurse kung may masakit sayo. And don't remove this from your body" the doctor warned at tinuro ang tubo na nakakonekta sa machine

"Yes po" Amber replied shortly

Bumuntong hininga ang doctor pakalabas ng kwarto ni Amber and he cried. A nurse approached him and asked what was wrong.

"Doc, okay lang po ba kayo?" tanong ng nurse and the doctor smiled

"Ayos lang ako. I'm just sad for the patient in this room. She's barely living."

"Siya po ba yung may heart disease?"

"Yes she is" the doctor replies and the nurse became sad

"Narinig ko nga po yung about sa kanya. Totoo po ba na machine na lang ang bubuhay sa kanya?" malungkot na tanong ng nurse

"Kapag tumigil na sa pagtibok ang puso niya, we'll turn on the machine para kahit wala na siyang malay, buhay pa rin siya."

At nung hapon nga ding iyon, Amber's heart stopped from beating. The doctor informed Amber's mom kung ioon pa ba yung machine o ideclare na siyang patay.

Tita Angeline agreed with the machine setup. Basta after a few days daw alisin na lang. She wasn't really into the machine thingy, pinagbigyan niya lang si Bryan na gusto pang makasama si Amber ng kahit kaunting oras pa. The boy was clearly not ready to bid goodbye. And Tita Angeline understood that.

She unformed Bryan about Amber's situation at pumunta nga si Bryan sa hospital para samahan ang walang malay nang si Amber.

He was sad of course. Kasi kahit buhay pa si Amber dahil sa machine, alam niya yung totoo na wala na talaga sa kanya si Amber.

Bryan cried nung makapasok siya sa room ni Amber. He cried while hugging Amber and kissing her hands while staring at the ring he gave her.

"I'm thankful na kahit papano buhay ka pa din. Amber, mahal na mahal kita. Hindi ko alam kung makakayanan ko kapag nawala ka but I think I should accept the truth now, right? Hindi mo man lang ako kinausap bago umalis. Nagtatampo ako, pero alam ko naman na pagod ka na kaya sige. Hahayaan na kita. I'll accept it now Amber. Promise, hindi ako iiyak ng marami. Pero syempre iiyak pa din naman ako." Bryan bit his lip kasi bumubuhos na ang lahat ng luha niya

"Thank you for letting me love you. And I want to thank God for letting me meet such a beautiful, kind, sweet and perfect human being like you. Thankful ako kasi binigay ka niya sa akin. Kahit mahirap, I'll let you go. Kasi yun yung dapat kong gawin. To free myself from sadness to be able to move on. But here is what I'll promise you. Na manannatili ka dito sa puso ko, Amber. You'll be forever in my heart kahit wala ka na. I promise na ikaw pa rin ang mamahalin ko sa susunod na habang buhay. Mahal na mahal kita, Amber at paalam na"

Those were Bryan's last words before he ordered the hospital to turn off the machine and let Amber be in peace.

Not all love will end up to a happy ending. Maybe the universe will let you exist in the same time but you will never know when you'll disappear and bid goodbye.
