38: Hassles

"I'd like to propose a toast for the lovely Birthday girl, Dawn." Syn clanked her spoon against her wine glass as she gazed at everybody who attended Dawn's celebration. Silence scattered all over the dining hall and all eyes were on Attorney "Si Dawn po ay isa sa pinakaclose na pinsan ko siguro nga dahil barkada din kami, siguro dahil nakasabay ko siya sa hanggang nakapagtapos siya ng medschool at napauwi sa England pero I think it is because she treats me like a sister above all. Might sound weird but I know her more than she knows about herself. You are a wonderful person and I know marami ka pang pasabog for us other than sa pagbabalikan ng CharDawn. You give more than receive kaya ansarap mong mahalin. Moreover, Dawn, thank you for being yourself. Sobrang dami mo nang natulungan, you deserve a bountiful and happier life. Happy birthday, Dawn Zulueta!"

"—Gomez!" The crowd chorused and laughed. They cheered and drank their first shot of champagne.

"Looks like somebody applied way too much blush on today." Lea teased and eyed Dawn to obviously put the hotseat on her. Dawn glared at Lea and Syn and then looked at Sharon like she badly needs her to shut the other two. "Hayaan mo na yang dalawa, Dawn. Mukhang totoo naman kasi sinasabi nila Lea." Sharon got along the moment and eyed Dawn and Richard's intertwined hands.

"Mommy, I want to play." Nio was making lambing to his mommy, trying to manipulate her mind with his adorable charm. With a kiss, the mommy gladly allowed him "Wag masyadong magpapawis ha and most of all don't make away."

"Yeth!" And he quickly got off his chair and rushed to his cousins' direction. They continued with their chatter as they recapped their past weeks without the Attorney. Lea realized Danzel's absence and decided to finally ask them about it "Danzel's not here. Saan siya?" She asked.

"She flew back to England and I'm glad to say that she's recovering na." Dawn said. Rio's hand slithered on Syn's fitted jeans, finding her hand. She held his hand and placed it on her lap as their were tied up together. Rio had his other arm at the back of Syn chair as he was listening to the group's chatter. "Twinnie!" Dawn exclaimed as she saw Luis coming their way.

"Sorry, twinnie, I'm late. May aberya sa set namin." She kissed Dawn's cheek and so as the rest of the barkada. "Imbyerna, Synthia Rey. Asan na anak ko?" He jested.

"Shut up, Luis."

"Gwapo ng mga asawa't jowa ninyo! Nakakasana all!"

"Sana all gwapo, Luis?" Sharon teased and received an eye roll "Ate Shawie mahal kita pero bakit ganiyan ka sakin? Oh twinnie, regalo ko." Luis grumpily handed over the gift wrapped in red.

"Thank you, twinnie! I love you!"

"Maiba nga ako, Darius and I had a conversation yesterday." Sharon spoke after she drank her wine.

Syn was stunned "Close kayo?"

"Kiko and him are friends pala, hindi ko yun alam—I swear. We happen to meet kahapon sa party ng mutual friend namin. Congratulations, darling!" said Sharon in glee. "This Attorney over here together with Darius Alcasid, won the graft and plunder case. I'm so proud of you, love!"

"Ate Shawie calls you love that easily ha, I can't even call you Syn-ta—" Rio was cut off by Synthia as she covered his mouth with her hand. Her teasing glare was adorable and was eye-catching "Tumahimik ka nga, napakabaduy kaya nun."

He chuckled and removed her hand "Nung pinagbuntis mo nga si Nio, yan gusto mong itawag ko sayo."

"Lalandi niyo ha parang invisible kami." Richard said. The group teased them as they each took another shot of champagne, but this time, it's a shot for Synthia "Here's to Atty. Synthia! Congrats!" She smiled and bowed at them playfully.
