Nio was awake but his eyes could not give his brain clear images. His tears have dried from all the crying and the trail it left. Synthia rushed to his side and flashed him a loving smile—for a moment, she was so glad Nio was able to recognize her.

"You're okay now, boo," she spoke. She tried so hard to keep it all in but with Nio's tiny smile, her heart gave in and her tears poured from her heavy eyes. Nio didn't know what was happening, he wasn't aware that he was just standing at the end of the cliff and any moment now he would fall off.

"Mom?" his eyebrows twitched and his eyes squinted as he felt the pain once more. "My robot?" he was asking for his favorite toy robot.

She looked back and saw Cyrus holding the toy robot he was talking about. Synthia came near Cyrus and their eyes talked. They're both tired of crying but Synthia wanted to cry more than she already did-for a mother, this was something she never anticipated and she always feared. It stung her heart whenever she would realize the uncertainty in surviving or losing him in just a literal blink of an eye.

She gave him the robot, she placed it beside him and his arms locked around its limbs. And Synthia didn't know what to say to him but she wanted to know what was sailing on his ocean of thoughts. Does he know he's fighting for his life? What lurks in his thoughts whenever he calls out for help?

At this point, enough just seemed like it never existed to her—It was because she thought they had forever to see his sparkling eyes; to enjoy his company as he grows; to spend. The last five years with Nio were the years she's most grateful for and she knew she wanted more of that, more of the scenes where Nio finally grows up. If only she had the will to rewrite each story and how he would go, she would make him stay much longer until she finally knows how to let go of him.

She held his forehead and pushed his hair back before she lowered her face to kiss his cheek. Nio held her hand, slowly rubbing his fingers against the back of her palm. It was one of the loveliest moments for her, she could feel his love by the warmth of his touch; because just like a mother's, that warmth comes from the heart.

"Anak, alam mo bang mahal ka ni mommy?"

Nio continued rubbing against her palm and he nodded "You thay that every day." his voice was feeble.

Synthia lay down beside Nio.

"Are you tired of hearing it?"

"No."

"I love you. I love you. I love you." she repeated and gave him three kisses. She tried not to sob but they were looking for their way out.

Cyrus saw the heartwarming scene. But it was painful as heck when he heard what they were talking about. He went close and joined their conversation "Gising na pala si boo. Hi, anak." he placed a kiss on his forehead and held his other hand, the other free hand.

Synthia sniffed and looked away to wipe her tears.

"May gusto ka bang gawin? Kainin?" he asked.

They could both hear how deep his breath was even with the cannula on, he was having a hard time. Nio lifted his robot in the air and placed it above his stomach, his other hand held Cyrus' fingertips "Leth go back to the mall when I get out, pleath?"

The couple looked at each other and they couldn't say anything. There are so many words at the tip of their tongue but none of them can spit the words.

Synthia nodded just as her tears rolled which she immediately wiped before nodding again "Oo. Pupunta tayo sa mall pagkalabas mo dito."

She wasn't sure if it was okay for him but she wanted so bad to make him feel better or persevered to fight a battle he's not even aware of. Cyrus held her hand and then looked at Nio "Nio, okay lang ba sayo kung papakasalan ko ang mommy mo?" he asked. The little Nio turned to him "Tho we will be family?"
