Syn shook her head, understanding the data infront of her. Cindy walked in her office with a cup of coffee in hand.

"Attorney, you're so back!" She greeted and placed her coffee on her desk. She smiled faintly and drank her coffee, she needs a dose of caffeine to wake her braincells up. "Pansamantala lang, uuwi din naman ako pagkatapos ng Christmas. Pinapasyal ko lang si Nio dito."

"Pinapasyal tapos tambak-tambak ang work? Iba din eh." Cindy jested and sat down. "Oh? Parang napakatamlay mo naman po?"

She bit her bubble gum pink lips as her hands fidgeted on the top of her desk, "I'm just... Naninibago lang ako sa oras"

"Sure? Nothing else bothering you, Attorney?"

"Ikaw no? Napaka---okay nga lang ako" she said and chuckled. Cindy smiled and brought out a box of her favorite almond-flavored ice cream cake from sugarmunch, "Just in case po" she said and grinned naughtily.

"You and your radar, Cindy ha. I love you." She said and pouted. Cindy chuckled and said you welcome before going back to work.

Syn was also planning to get back on her reading when she received a notification from Rio. He was at home with Nio, playing pie face. She sent him a message with crying emojis.

She then placed her phone on her desk and got the folder, she started reading the first page. It was another case of Graft and Plunder and the case dated 2 years ago---Wait, there's something missing. She paused and scanned through the other pages until she reached the end. She scratched her head and got her phone.

"Atty. Darius, good morning po." She said after the other line picked up. She received no response, "Si Atty. Fortrera po ito. You might be wondering how I got your phone number, I got this from my assistant. Sir, uh, Attorney, I called to discuss t---"

(Yes, sorry for the prolonged silence. Naintimidate po ako agad sayo, Attorney. Bakit po?) he said. Syn smiled and chuckled, "Hindi naman po ako nangangagat. Anyway, yes, I just wanted to ask if you detached a file from this folder by any chance?"

(Why is that so, Attorney?)

"As we know, before this will proceed to the court for the trials, you'll have to go through pre-trials. You're missing that document, Attorney" she said, inspecting the pages again.

(About that, uhmmm, we still haven't received the document from the court.)

"Why is that?"

(Hindi daw priority, may on-going case din daw po kasi ang ex-colleague niyo na si Atty. Doctolero.) He said on the other line. Syn sighed in contempt.

"Atty. Darius Alcasid, may we meet?"

"When is your most available time?"

(I'm fine with later, Atty. Synthia)

"Dinner it is and please, call me Syn. Let's be friends." She smiled and dropped the phone call. She turned to the door as it created a creaking sound; Nio peaked and smiled.

"Mommy, thurprith!" Nio said and hopped his way to her. Syn widely spread her arms and hugged him. "Hello, baby. How was your morning?"

"Why weren't you there when I woke up, mommy? Daddy cooked me breakfath and it wath bad, ble" Nio said and crawled to her lap. She pushed her MacBook away from her desk and placed him there, infront of her. "Oh are you thtill working, mommy?" He asked.
