To carry my voice,
You raise your hand in sovereignty; I raise my fist in solidarityThe presumptuous ignorance of
The White folks who overtake reform-forming questions for Black folks instead
Of listening to our self-advocating answers
Experience silencing
Know-it-alls are ne'er-do-wellsIndependent of you,
We have voices
You cannot own us
They are not yours
You cannot speak as usThere is no greater danger to
Justice and equity than a White
Loudmouth who does not listen to whom they speak
Of and to
Yet furies, and take liberties
They do not know what they are talking aboutIn the grocery store, self-aware, I pass the pears
I do not want them; I do not need them
Pears are still sold there
I do not rebuke them; I do not remove them
I am not for whom they are prepared for
