I remember the picture, not the picturesque
The landscapes of the virtual reality replayed
By my domesticated photographic memory
I could only smell the description
Yet even that was mixed with my household chemistry
Bitters and sweeteners and cleaners
Tasting of molasses, corn syrup, cocktail tonics, and other sappy potions
Whiffed between newspapers and other pulp fiction fire-starters
Like additives to vinegar and baking soda derivativesAh, the taffy of seasoning salt
Oh, I don't remember; I rewatch
I am a lazy-eye witness to a green screen
My windowless viewing room
