Your ego is within your control. If you let your self-righteousness go unchecked, you will destroy your own happiness. Swallow your pride when it's the only thing getting in the way of what you want. Don't let "I love you" go left unsaid.
Pride isn't self-respect; it's hubris. Self-esteem is about bettering yourself, not demeaning yourself. You can love yourself and your loved ones at the same time. You don't have to always be right to be loved and to love. Sometimes, in love, you have to learn how to "take the L".
