People misunderstand what unconditional love means. It doesn't mean to crucify yourself to fix another; Jesus already died for that love. If you really want to know the cost of misunderstanding and misapplying unconditional love, ask an abuse survivor; be careful for what you wish for because you just might get it. Healthy relationships take two people working together. Both working. You are both supposed to love each other as yourself, which means you have to love yourself like God loves you. Both of you. God loved you so much He died for you. When you try to take God's place, in self-sacrifice, that's when your love fails in you. When you love each other as yourselves, there is no abuse, and there is no bitterness.
Mark 12:31 The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."
That is how you love each other like Jesus loves us. That is how you 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 love. In God.
