"Jareddddddd, where are youuuuuu??" Evan shouted across the empty hall, stretching out his words trying to get Jared's attention. He was supposed to meet up with Jared at his house, but he decided to come a bit earlier than he was supposed to. Evan was starting to walk into his room when he heard a muffled noise in Jared's room. As he went to investigate, an even louder noise was made. Like a thump. Some sort of racket fell or stuff was being thrown onto the floor. A concerned look grew on his face as he slowly turned the knob on his door.
Then he was frozen. He saw the worst thing he could ever imagine. His heart broke just from the sight. His eyes grew wide, his mouth was gaped open, his arm immediately went over his mouth. He couldn't breathe. He was about to cry but now was not the time. He quickly slipped his way over the scattered items on the floor. Half were broken, half were missing pieces, half were just thrown wherever as an attempt to cover something up. Evan didn't know what it was until he made it to Jared's bed.
He did the first thing that came to mind and he hugged him tight. Cradling him into his arms like this was the last time he was going to see him. He couldn't say anything, because he didn't have to. He knew what was going on all too well. It's happened to him multiple times before, so he comforted him like he did for him. Evan hugged Jared tighter as Jared clung onto him. For once in his life, he cried. He cried in front of someone and he couldn't care any less that it was Evan supporting him.
Jared was throwing stuff around as he was growing more and more upset. Upset with himself. He was bawling his eyes out as he tried to hug Evan back. Evan had Jared sitting on his lap, knees to his chest, head nuzzled into Evan's neck (it would be adorable but Jared is crying and it's very sad). Jared was having a mental breakdown. Right before Evan was walking to his house, he had certain thoughts going over and over in his head. He couldn't seem to shut them up.
Evan removed Jared's glasses and tried to wipe some of his tears away with his thumb. But as more came down, he thought to give it a rest and let Jared let it all out. For a couple of minutes, it was only the sobs of Jared, and the rocking back and forth of Evan. He's had them before, but he was always the one getting comforted, not the other way around. But he still tried his best to calm him down.
Evan soon began to speak in a soothing and calm voice, trying to not startle Jared. "Hey, hey, hey, it's okay, I'm here." Evan was clearly trying his best to help Jared, and Jared couldn't be more appreciative. After all Jared has done to Evan, the endless teasing, the sarcastic comments, and even the rude phrases, Evan stuck by his side. And this was why he loved him so much. To the point of breaking down.
Evan tried to speak again, not giving up on Jared anytime soon, not after everything they've been through together. "I may not know what is exactly going through your head, but whatever it is, whatever those cruel voices are saying, they're wrong," Evan took a shaky breath as he continues, "I've dealt with them before… for, for c-certain reasons-isn't my stutter just awesome? Al-always c-comes at the-the perfect times…" Evan let out a very needed laugh, to stop him from crying himself. One person was enough.
"Just k-know that-that I'm h-here for y-you, I wo-wont let an-anything happen to-to you…" his stutter was getting worse by the second. He was going to talk again when Jared cut him off.
"Thank you, Evan… thank you thank you thank you." Jared said as he was finally able to take a full breath.
"It's the-the least I c-could do," Evan said as he hugged Jared tighter, "s-since you're semi-c-calmed down, can-can you t-tell me w-what happened? Ifnotthenthat'stotallyfine."
Jared chuckled, he always loved how caring Evan was, no matter the situation.
"Sure acorn." Jared replied as he was getting closer and closer to feeling happy again. But before Jared could tell him, he had to make sure of one thing, "Promise you won't leave…?"
"Of-of course, I couldn't d-dream of it…" Evan said as he lifted Jared's chin and stared into his eyes while giving him a reassuring smile. Of course Jared blushed from his actions, he also began to stutter as he spoke, "I-I… uhm… it's really embarrassing and probably stupid…" Jared said as he looked back down to the ground.
"If it m-made you b-break, break d-down like that than I'm s-sure it isn't s-stupid." Instead of lifting his chin like before, he played with his hair, he didn't fully know why but it felt right.
Jared only let out a laugh, a small one but it made Evan smile.
"W-what?"
"Just… this" he used his arms to gesture towards the position they were in.
"What a-about it?"
"It's just, like super gay"
"So?" Evan asked as he scoffed in fake annoyance.
"It…" Jared wanted to speak but who knows how Evan would react. If anyone saw them right now, they would think they're lovers.
"It's…?" Evan said, trying to get Jared to finish.
"It… it's the first hug I've had in a long time… and I, I don't want to stop…" Jared couldn't help but nuzzle his head deeper into Evan's chest.
"Me neither…" Evan let out a content sigh and put his arms back around Jared and started to lay down on the bed. Jared soon followed down with him and let go of his knees, finally relaxing.
Out of instinct almost, Jared said the unthinkable, in Evan's mind at least, "I love you". Even though it was barely a whisper, Evan heard it, and he heard it clearly. He was obviously surprised, shocked even, but responded back anyway.
"I love you too" and didn't hesitate for a second just in case he changed his mind, he kissed Jared's head. Jared was basically screaming on the inside, everything he hoped for has finally happened. He could finally do what he's been waiting for for ages. He sat up using his arms as support as he was still laying on top of Evan, and kissed him. And Evan happily kissed back. It was soft, full of love, and quick, but it had so many emotions packed into it. It left both of them staring at each other with a goofy grin.
"I'm going to assume it was a good thing I came early?" Evan asked with a big smile on his face.
"Oh shut up Hansen." Jared said with a joking tone.
"How dare you." Evan gasped with fake anger in his voice as he kissed him again, with the same amount of love as before.
I know it seems like I've been writing a lot of angst or just sad stuff but I'm working on another story right now, and it's full of fluff. It's another Kleisen, how did you know? Anyway, it should be published soon unless my wifi cuts out on me :3
