Evan invited himself into Jared's apartment, assuming it was fine since he always has done the same to him. He was returning the favor as he started to make snacks for when Jared returns from wherever he may be. Evan hums as he mixes the cookie batter into a bowl, knowing how much Jared loves sweets. He starts to form little balls of cookie dough as he places them on a cookie sheet when he hears the door open. Evan beams, already knowing who it is, but what he didn't know was Jared's appearance.
"Hey Jared! I'm making your favorite-" Evan looks up as he talks to Jared, still smiling as he expects to see Jared somewhat surprised to see him. But he doesn't. Instead he sees a hurt Jared, with bloody knuckles and a beat up face. Evan drops everything as he stares wide eyed, concern and worry washing over him. When Jared passes by he's shaking, it makes him scared.
"Jared, what happened- are you alright?" Evan asks as he rushes over, reaching over to grab his hand but he just barely makes it. He keeps walking as he heads to his room, ignoring Evans calls. He wasted no time to run over and knock on the door. He was panicking and soon lost his control, his knocks soon turned to bangs as no response was heard.
"Jared, come one, open the door please?" Evan could feel his eyes blurry as water flooded them, but he couldn't give up. He refused to accept defeat as he kept banging on the door, pleading for entrance. He hated seeing Jared hurt and hated it even more when he wouldn't let him help.
Evan was soon running low on energy, slowly falling onto the floor. He laid against the door, Jared already doing the same before. He kept calling his name, desperate for any answer at all. He couldn't just leave him there and he wouldn't allow Jared to go through this alone. Evan stayed there all night, not leaving his spot. Patiently waiting for any movement from Jared, never giving up on him.
He made that promise years ago, and he will always stand by it.
