I think you're going to like this one
I wake up before Jared who is currently squeezing me in his sleep. It's cute, he really is like a bear. Big and soft, that can also kill people. I try to escape from his grasp but I can't get loose. I have to wake up because I really need to pee.
"Jare-bear, I need you to wake up."
No response.
"Jare-bear?"
Still nothing. I'm going to pee my freaking pants.
"Jare."
C'mon!
"Jared!" I yell and he finally wakes up. Thank god, "Jare let me go." I rush out and he looks at me groggy. I know he just woke up but let me gooo.
"Hm? What?" His voice is raspy and soft.
"I really need to pee, let me go." He just nods and let's go of me. Freedom! I dart to the bathroom and do my business. I'm just using the bathroom, you don't need a full description of my bathroom.
"Evannn!" I hear Jared yell from the bed. I finish up and walk back to see him hugging a pillow where I used to lay.
"You a koala bear now?" I snicker.
"I want cuddles. And sleep."
"Yeah yeah, move the pillow." I walk back to the bed and he quickly moves the pillow out of the way. As soon as I touch the bed he pulls me down and hugs me.
"What's with you?" I ask curiously, usually he isn't this clingy. He nuzzles further into my chest but doesn't answer.
"Are you just tired?" I play with his hair. It's so soft.
"Mhm." He hums in response. I haven't really checked the time either so maybe it is still early. I reach over to the nightstand and turn on my phone. 7am? Jeez. I don't blame him for being tired. I'm going to sleep too.

I wake up again and Jared for once is up before me. He's not in bed and I can see his nightshirt already in the dirty clothes bin so he's probably dressed and doing something unnecessary as always.
I tiredly walk into the kitchen and see Jared dancing to some music while making... breakfast? Probably. Ignore breakfast for a second, Jared is dancing. That's a first. It looks like he's in his own world, just jamming to music, dancing like the rest of the world isn't there.
I don't want to ruin his happy mood so I go back to my room and get dressed for the day. I would describe what I'm wearing but I'm lazy... nevermind. I'm wearing plain dark blue jeans and one of Jared's oversized hoodies. Well it's not oversized for him, just on me. He says I look really cute in his clothes so I'm wearing it.
As I'm putting my nightclothes into the dirty clothes bin, I see something on my dresser. It looks like a folded up piece of paper. It's near Jared's stuff so it's most likely his but I'm still curious. Although that would be invading his privacy and if it's really personal then I don't want to dig up something that has been long forgotten.
I'll ask him about it, along with his backstory and how he's started working with his 'boss'. I put my clothes in the bin and picked up the paper. When I go back to the kitchen, Jared isn't dancing anymore. Instead he's dishing up plates with breakfast and setting them on the table.
"Good morning Jare." I announced from the hallway into the kitchen. He looks back at me and smiles.
"Good morning. I made toast and bacon, I was going to make eggs but you didn't have any."
"Thank you, I'll go shopping later." I make my way over to the table and he brings the chair out for me, "what a gentleman." I laugh.
"It's too early for your smart remarks." He mumbles but still smiles, so I know it wasn't meant to be taken in a mean way.
"Really? Who was dancing a few minutes ago." I smirk.
"You saw that?! Why didn't you say something?" He groans.
"Didn't want to. You looked cute."
"Shut up." He looks away flustered.
"Sorry Jare-bear." He gets more red. He mumbles something and I just laugh. Then I remember the paper.
"Hey, so I found this," I reached into my pocket and took out the paper, "on my dresser. I haven't looked at it, privacy and all that, but I was wondering what it was." His eyes widen and snatch it out of my hands.
"It's nothing important." He stuffs it in his pocket and the topic was long forgotten.
"Okay, another question then," he looks at me in response, "how did you get into the whole killing thing? What's with all your boss' orders?" He just stares at his food and thinks.
"Well, it's a pretty long story. The paper you found is actually a note... a note from my mom." He sighs.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to- you don't have to answer."
"No it's fine, you should know. The note is easier and quicker to explain. My mom gave it to me before she died, and said I can only read it when I'm lost. Not literally lost like in the woods somewhere, like help. Something to help me find my way back to how I was. That could mean getting out of a depression, or can't find the answer to something." He looks at me with worried eyes, like he's scared of what I'll think.
"Well, that's a lot. Uh, if I'm allowed to ask, how did she..." I gesture with my hands, hoping he can answer without me actually answering. I'm lucky that my mom is still alive and I couldn't imagine a world without her. It's heartbreaking to hear it from him.
"Uhm, she...," he took a deep breath, maybe I shouldn't have asked, "she worked with someone. They were like partners in crime, literally. They were the most dynamic duo in the whole crime community. Their boss would give them an order, like me, and would get rewarded if they did it right. But then... they went against him. Their recent order was too far, it didn't fit their standards... long story short, her partner was killed by his men, and she barely escaped."
"...". Jeez. How do you respond to that. Wait... "do you have the same boss as your mom?"
"No, if I did I would've killed him by now. So everybody else he forced into doing business with him could go back to their regular lives. Sadly, he's still out there."
"He, he's still- he's not dead- o-or nobody- what about the police? Can't they do anything?"
"No, because he covers his tracks too damn well for anyone to get a lead."
"He still-"
"He still orders people around, a 'friend' of mine says he's gotten worse. Getting less forgiving and showing less mercy."
"Where did he used to hide out at?" If he's still loose, he could have gotten back to his old hideout, nobody would know.
"Near an old military base, on the other side of town."
"That's- my mom works at the community hospital, a few blocks away from it. She kept saying something about medical supplies going out without being recorded."
"So..?"
"So he could be taking that supplies for his own needs. He might still be there." I stare at him intently and he widens his eyes again.
"Shit. I think we got ourselves a lead!" He stands up and puts his hands on his hand, in an excited way. Yelling out every once and awhile. Jared could finally get payback.
...
"You didn't finish your plate-"
