Sai x Fem! Reader x Ino

Spoilers for Boruto ahead.

At first you didn't think you'd get along with him, he seemed strange.
Always drawing in his book or training in his free time.
The more time you spent together on missions and training, you became more interested in him.
Slowly you and him started to talk more outside of missions and training.
      In your free time you'd sit beside him and watch him draw, he told you how he had a brother, and       told you a little about his time in the Anbu.
It got to the point where you two were inseparable, always doing something together, wether it was going out to eat, or just talking.

As time continued you noticed you became flushed around him, he made your heart beat fast and you got excited when you knew you were going to see him.
You two had a great friendship, and you didn't want to ruin it because of your feelings. You stayed quiet about how you felt and cherished the relationship you had with him.

Years had passed, and things started to change, little by little, Sai would be found hanging out with Ino.
They would do all the things you and him had bonded over. They'd go out to eat, he'd let her look in his drawing book, he even started to draw pictures of her.
It upset you but you knew you couldn't be the only friend Sai had. But you started to feel a little pang of jealousy when he'd turn down your offers to hang out, deep down you knew why.
Ino was very pretty, so you couldn't blame Sai for liking her, but it still hurt to see Sai drift away from you because of her.

Maybe if only you had confessed your feelings years ago things would be different.
You began to regret not telling him how you felt, and even began to regret meeting him.
If you hadn't met him, you wouldn't be in so much emotional pain right now, seeing him with another girl was unbearably painful.

You were jolted awake by a knock on your front door, it was too early for visitors. Slowly, you made your way to the front door, only to find Sai smiling at you.
"Hey, Y/N—"
He cut himself off as he saw you in your pajamas and saw how unruly your hair was.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you up, I'll come back another time."

Another time? Who knows when that would be.

"No, it's alright, come in." He took his shoes off and made himself comfortable on your living room couch as you sat down beside him.

"What brings you over here so early?" You yawned.

"I wanted to tell you, Ino and I are getting married. I came over here to tell you, you're my best friend and I  wanted you to know first."

How could he say that so nonchalantly? Marriage, already? Please tell me I'm dreaming.

Tears began to swell up, and you were afraid you were going to break down if you spoke to him.
All you could do was give him a fake smile.

"Really? I'm so happy for you."
The tears started to roll down your cheeks, the silence between you two confirmed that he didn't know what to say.

"Why are you crying, Y/N?" 
His question made the tears worse and you struggled to answer him.

"I'm just so happy to see you getting married. I can't believe it."

"Thank you, Y/N. I also need to give you this."

He pulled a white envelope out of his pocket and placed it on your lap.

"This is an invitation to the wedding, I really want you to come."

"I wouldn't miss it for the world."

Naruto became Hokage, he married Hinata and had two kids.
Shikamaru married Temari and had one boy.
Rock Lee and TenTen married and had a boy.
Sasuke and Sakura married and had one girl.

You remained single and struggled to watch as Sai and Ino got married, and had a little boy named Inojin.
He looked so much like Sai, but also looked a lot like Ino.
The clothing style, fighting style, pale skin, and smile were the same as Sai's. It was like seeing a reincarnation of him.

Sometimes you wondered what your children with Sai would look like. You regretted not telling him how you felt, but he was happy and that's what mattered.
