WARNING: This is after season 12. If you haven't watched it yet, there will be spoilers.

Jay felt dead. Not like depressed, maybe just a little bit, but more tired. He couldn't seem to sleep. It was as if his dreams were trying to tell him something. Something his brain had been blocking out, not that he really cared.

After Unagami, Jay's nightmares returned. Like, the nightmares that he had from Nadakhan, but they were so much worse than what he could have anticipated.

He saw so much of himself in Unagami, and that terrified him. He didn't want to turn into that sort of a person just because he didn't get answers about his abandonment, and that was the thought that scared him. That thought that he would turn on everyone he loves just because he was unsure of himself. Just because he wasn't good enough, and that made him sick.

Jay turned to his side to see all of his teammates sleeping softly. He was jealous that they were able to walk away so quickly and quietly from all of that trauma, but it made sense. He faced most of it anyway.

Jay felt rage boil inside of him. He knew at this rate, he would lose control of lightning. His teammates wouldn't be happy if he burnt the room down, no matter if it was because of his not being able to control his emotions or not. They just redid the decorating on the cabin on the Bounty, and they were not going to want to rebuild any part of it again any time soon.

He was relieved in that moment that he was trained to be a Ninja. He knew that he wouldn't be able to leave without any of them noticing if he hadn't learned. He was a very loud person. Loud when I want to be, Jay corrected in his head. He didn't like to be quiet. It reminded him of the loneliness he would feel in school. The bullying that led to him being a Junkyard kid. The times that led him to his anxiety and depression.

He looked up to the stars as he leaned against the railing of the ship. Ninjago looked peaceful tonight. There wasn't any danger that he could see or hear. They brought the ship to help rebuild the city once again. Hopefully, they would be able to go back to the Monastery tomorrow. He really just wanted to be alone with his friends. He didn't want all of the praise or Gayle Gossip hunting him down for a private interview. He didn't want to be the guy who saved Ninjago. He wanted to be Jay. To be treated normally without all of the sort of fanbase or heroism that was always thrown upon them where ever they went.

Unagami's attack made everyone more appreciative of Jay, but really this made him feel worse. None of this would have happened if he had just not tried to fix the machine. If he had just listened to Nya for once. Maybe this was his curse. This was the curse that he had to face anytime a villain wanted to take him down. He would have to face them alone. Alone with his friends and city in the balance. He really hated all of the weight on his shoulder. It felt too.. too cold.

"Couldn't sleep?" Nya whispered as she came and leaned beside him, which caused Jay to jump slightly. He hadn't heard her come up.

"Yeah." Jay whispered as he smiled slightly at her before looking back to the stars

He tried to ignore her sudden appearance, but he couldn't not be aware of her presence here. He had barely left her side at all when they came back, but now he really just wanted to be alone. To be alone with his thoughts. He loved Nya with everything he could. He was thankful for her to be here, but at the same time... Was he just dragging her down with him? Could he save her from his own personal hell? His curse?

"The stars are pretty tonight. They add such a touch to the city." Nya said as she tried to start a conversation with him again.

"You should really be sleeping. You need it, especially after the past couple weeks." Jay said as he looked at her from the corner of his eye.
