Burden Of A Leader

Here is my first Oneshot from the list that I made. Thank you @superflash-verse for requesting this! It was a  of fun to write. This basically turned into an angst fest, but there is some fluff.

"Jay is the Green Ninja." Wu's voice echoed in his mind like an endless cavern.

At first, Jay wanted nothing more than to be the Green Ninja. The idea of having all of that power and respect appealed to him, especially after growing up in a Junkyard where he had none. Yet now, now that everything has happened, he didn't want that. He didn't want to have that endless responsibility.

Why did this have to happen to him? Why couldn't it have been Cole? Or Zane? Or even Kai for that matter? Anybody but him. Anybody would've been better for the role but him, and yet that didn't seem to matter to the fucking first Spinjitzu Master!

He knew he was frozen in place. He didn't know how to react. This was lifechanging. This literally changed everything. Nobody really paid attention to him. They were all celebrating. They were celebrating the birth of a leader. Of someone who was supposed to be the savior of Ninjago. That somebody isn't him. That somebody shouldn't be him, and yet it is.

He feels like he is drowning. The waves of pressure pushing him further and further away from the surface that he is trying so desperately to get back to with everyone else. He was pushed off the edge with his brothers, and they didn't even notice that he was gone. He was to far away to be noticed from them.

"Congratulations, oh wise one!" Cole joked as he wrapped an arm around his shoulder.

Jay slightly flinched as he was brought back into reality. He wanted out of this sudden position. He was the jokester, not a leader! He was never supposed to be a leader! No one could know of the battle in his mind. He can't crumble. Not anymore. Not like he used to.

"I, err... Thanks." Jay finally replied as he hesitantly smiled at Cole and then Kai and Zane.

"Wow. The master of blabber has finally been rendered speechless!" Kai laughed, though Jay could hear that this was fake.

'Believe me Kai, if I could, I would give you this job. You certainly deserve it more than I do.'

"This is a life changing position, Kai. Jay has every right to not know what to say in this exact moment." Zane defended, an Jay held back his grimace.

He didn't deserve to be defended. He should be thinking about this in a positive light, not like how he is right now. He needs to be brave. If not for himself, then at least for his team. They deserve that much. They deserve a leader who at least seems to know what exactly to do and what exactly is going on.

'That is something I don't know. If I didn't know it before I was the leader, why would I know now that a title is placed on me?'

Jay felt his body slump slightly as the others chatted excitedly during dinner. They all seemed to be filled with so much more hope now that one of the greatest mysteries has finally been solved. He couldn't let them down. He knew that he couldn't let them down, and that made him feel even more exhausted.

Jay finally looked up to see Nya glance at him with a small smile. It made his stomach twist in knots. It added another worry to his plate as he tried to meet her smile. Nya was one of the most important people in his life. She was his girlfriend for crying out loud! However, he had seen the movies to know what was coming.

What if he couldn't save her? What if he had to choose between the City and her? What if he let her down just like how he fears he is going to let everyone else down? What if he couldn't spend time with her anymore? Would this cause them to break up? Would this title be the end of them right as they were figuring out the relationship between them?
