Chapter 16 (New Friend?)

3rd Person's POV

"Did you get anything?" The two servants of Lady Kydilla looked at each other.

"Prince Asher returned. And He had a conversation with Lady Xyrill" one of Kydilla's servant answers.

"Did you hear what they talked about?" Another question cone out from Lady Kydilla.

"Prince Asher seems confident that Lady Xyrill will be selected as the Emperor's Bride. But for some reasons, Lady Xyrill doesn't know anything. She kept on asking Prince Asher about it, but the Prince won't say anything to her" her servant narrated.

Lady Kydilla let out a sigh. She's been watching the other Arthya whereabouts since their first encounter. "Maybe the rumors are true"

Her head servant put a cup of tea in front of Lady Kydilla. "Miss, I think you're just wasting your time with her" Kydilla looked at her servant. "Hyena, It's not a waste of time if I gain anything from them" she answered.

"But did you get anything? Lady Kydilla, the biggest threat here is Lady Sheikha. Her family have a good reputation in the Palace" Kydilla sipped from her tea.

"I already know that. But I'm still not convinced that Lady Xyrill doesn't have any interest to the throne" one of her servants give her a napkin to wipe her lips.

"Where do you think Prince Asher went? He disappeared for a week and now he's back, obviously because the Ceremony is near" Kydilla asked.

"The Prince must have an important information about that foreign girl. It's frustrating that he's a Prince, making it hard for me to know what is he doing"

Their conversation interrupted when someone knocks at the room they are in.

Hyena opened the door and they were greeted by Lady Cynthra. Wife of Prince Aurelius.

The servants of Kydilla stiffened to what they saw. But Kydilla didn't even flinch.

"Good afternoon Lady Kydilla" Lady Cynthra flashed a big smile to Lady Kydilla who's sipping her tea.

"Good afternoon Lady Cynthra. What brought you here?" Kydilla asked calmly. Not bothered by the presence of the Lady in front of her.

"We need this room" Hyena and her other colleagues bowed at Kydilla and Cynthra and left the room for them.

"Well, I saw your minions lurking around. Why are you spying on me?" Cynthra didn't sugar-coat her words and just told Kydilla why she's there.

"Excuse me Lady Cynthra, spying you?" Kydilla let out a small chuckle.

Kydilla and Cynthra have been into each other throat for some time. Both Families are known and hold big influence. And there are times that they met each other at gatherings. They are also in the same academy and both competing for the top.

"Don't be full of yourself, I have a lot of servants here. It may be a coincidence that you saw some of them" that's why when Kydilla saw Cynthra she didn't flinch. Because she's used to seeing and bickering with her.

"You always see me as your enemy so what is new? And are you not scared? I'm a Luster and the wife of Prince Aurelius. The people here are loyal to me" Cynthra said confidently. But Kydilla let out another chuckle.

"And if I become the Empress, they will be more loyal to me" what Kydilla said annoyed Cynthra making her stand up.

"How bold of you to come here and spit nonsense in my face. I pity Lady Sheikha having you as her cousin. She's a nice woman. Maybe that why you can easily play her in your palm" Cynthra was about to say something when the door opened.
