Chapter 39: Chivalry is Dead

Liam's POV

"And we're now on our second day of the University Week! Today is Costume Day so wear your favorite costumes and win exciting prizes from our booth games!" Rinig kong announce ng emcee sa labas ng field.

Nasa coffee shop ako sa loob ng University. Marahan kong ininom ang mainit na kape at tumingin sa babaeng nasa harapan ko. Alam kong hindi siya masayang kasama ako ngayon. she used to be so happy whenever we're here, but now she looks sad and I know it's my fault.

"I know you're not comfortable now, Liam. Don't mind me." Sabi niya.

"Lianne, I'm sorry." Diretsahan kong sabi.

"Hhmm... for what?" sabi niya then faked a smile like nothing's wrong and pretending to be okay.

"For breaking your heart." Sabi ko.

For a moment, I saw pain flashed in her eyes but only for a brief moment. Mabilis din ang balik ng ngiti niya na muntik ko nang akalain na naimagine ko lang yung nakita ko.

"It's okay, Liam. It's not like you begged me to love you. I gave you my love willingly and whole-heartedly. I'm the one who should be sorry for forcing myself on you." sabi niya.

"It's okay, I'm also sorry for the painful words that I told you. I didn't want to give you false hope. You're my friend and I truly care about you. I'd rather hurt you with the truth rather than lie to make you happy." Sabi ko. "You're a good woman, Lianne. I'll be praying for you, for your happiness and that you'll find a man who will love you for who you are."

"Stop being so nice, Liam. Pinapahirapan mo naman ako magmove-on niyan eh." Biro niya.

"You deserve to be happy, Lianne. I hope we can remain friends after this." I sincerely told her.

"You also deserve to be happy, Liam. That's why I'm letting you go. I love you and if the fact that you loving another person makes you happy, then so be it. Salamat sa lahat. This is a lesson that is engraved in my heart. Please know that I might love another man in the future, but you'll always have a special place in my heart.

You're my first love, you taught me to be selfless, to appreciate the simple things like a smile on your lips, the corny jokes that makes you laugh, the silent moments with you and our friendship. Sana mahalin mo siya higit pa sa pagmamahal ko sayo. Sana gawin mo sa kanya ang mga bagay na hiniling kong gawin natin. And please make sure that she'll make you happy, because if not, babawiin kita sa kanya." Biro niya.

"Thank you, Lianne." Sabi ko.

"Thank you din, Liam. Goodbye." Sabi ni Lianne sabay lumabas na siya ng coffee shop.

I breathe a sigh of relief. At least I was able to give Lianne a proper closure that she deserves so we can both move on with our life, especially her.

Bella's POV

"Congratulations anak! I'm so happy for you. Big girl na ang baby girl namin!" sabi ni Mom pagkatapos kong sabihin na sinagot ko na si Liam. "That necklace is so beautiful!" dagdag niya.

"Thank you, Mom." Sabi ko.

"You found yourself a good man. Make sure he makes you happy, but don't forget that you can make yourself happy too. I want you to be independently happy." Sabi ni Dad.

"Thanks Dad!" masaya kong sabi.

Masaya akong pumasok sa school. Wala kaming class ngayon dahil University Week at tapos na rin ang finals kaya napangdesisyunan kong pumasok nalang muna sa rehearsal room ng Org namin para hintayin si Judith dahil dun namin napagdesisyunang magkita.
