Chapter 49: Stay

Liam's POV

It was the morning after the Homecoming party and nagbebreakfast kami ni Bella kasama nila Tito Jaime and Tita Amelia.  It was something that we did mula nung nangliligaw palang ako kay Bella. Nalaman kasi ni Tita na nagi-iskip ako ng breakfast bago pumasok kaya to their insistence, nagbebreakfast na ako kasama sila.

"So Liam, saan mo pala plano mag-internship?" kaswal na tanong saken ni Tito.

"May hospital po na malapit sa company niyo po, I think it would be better po kung dun po ako mag-intern para rin po malapit ako kay Bella." Sabi ko.

I saw Bella's face brightened up. I smiled back and held her hand.

"There are many other big hospitals in the capital, I can pull some strings if you want to. I really appreciate your consideration for my daughter's welfare, but there are many opportunities for a bright man like you." Sabi ni Tito.

"Thank you so much, Tito. I'll keep that in mind." Sagot ko.

"I'm so proud of you, Liam. You know, I already considered you as my own son." Sagot ni Tito.

I looked at Bella, I saw sadness in her eyes, I know it's because she never heard her Dad said that he's proud of his own daughter.

"Bella's also doing a great job. She's really doing her best." Sabi ko.

"Well, yeah... You could say that." Tito cleared his throat "Siya nga pala, you're on vacation, right? You can stay here in our guest room if you want to."

"Hon, baka nahihiya na si Liam niyan." Biro sa kanya ni Tita Amelia.

"Ah ganon ba? I'm sorry, son. Ano palang napili mong specialization?" tanong ni Tito Jaime.

"Neurosurgery po." sagot ko.

"Wow! I mean that's going to take a very long time but don't worry, I'm sure my Bella can wait. Besides, she also has a long way to go."

I know Bella's not liking what she's hearing based on her facial expression. My phone started ringing, papatayin ko na sana as courtesy kila Tito but I saw that it was from my mom.

"Tito Jaime, Tita Amelia, Babe, please excuse me po. I need to take this call from my Mom." Sabi ko in which they agreed.

"Hello Mom? Gitawag ka?" tanong ko sa kanya.

"Hello Liam, anak. Please go back to Cebu."

Bella's POV

Nang bumalik si Liam sa dining table ay nagbago na ang ekspresyon ng mukha nito. He looks so bothered. He's silently eating, and I know my parents sensed it as well.

"Mom, Dad, I need to go now. I have work to do." Paalam ko sa kanila.

"Hatid na kita." Sabi saken ni Liam. "No, it's okay. I can drive myself to work." Pagtanggi ko.

"I insist. I've been too busy studying for 4 years, let me make it up to you." Pagpilit ni Liam.

"Come on Bella, Liam just wants to take care of you. That's so sweet of you Liam." Sabi ni Mom sa kanya.

"Okay." Sabi ko.

We said good-bye to my parents and head out. I looked out the window as Liam drove me to work. "Babe, what do you think of me staying in your house for the meantime?" narinig kong tanong ni Liam.

"Kung gusto mo, okay lang naman saken tutal parang mas gusto pa ni Dad na makasama ka kesa saken." I said.

"Babe, may problema ba tayo?" tanong niya.
