Hunter:
Daniel and I are meeting the girls at a restaurant for dinner. We were gonna go pick them up at their apartment but Grey insisted that I do as little walking as possible and since I'm wrapped around her finger and can't deny her a thing I agreed, but I wasn't happy about it. Daniel and I get to the place before they do and we decide to wait outside until they get here. Grey said she made a reservation so we weren't worried about getting a table.
Considering it's the middle of February it's reasonably warm and the air is light and crisps. It's a beautiful night and I can't wait to see Grey. The sun hasn't completely gone down yet and the sky is that gorgeous mix of pink, orange, and purple. Just then I see Grey coming down the street, or more like I sensed she was nearby and I turned my attention in her direction. She looks stunning as usual especially now with the incredible sky as her back drop. Her hair is down in gorgeous loose wavy curls but some of the pieces are pulled back and pinned at the back of her head. I can't see her outfit yet because she has on a long black coat that covers it but I can tell that she has knee high socks on. Holy hell. How the hell did I get so lucky to meet a girl like her and to have her actually care for me?
When she reaches us I finally notice Sam and a guy flanking her. I'm assuming the guy is her friend Nate, who she told me was coming. If she hadn't I'd probably be silently panicking right now that she brought a guy with her, especially since she didn't mention he looks the way he does. He isn't taller than me but he is made up of lean muscle and with a male model face like his I'm sure he has no trouble landing girls.
It's silly but to show my claim on Grey when she says hello to me I pull her towards me and tenderly kiss her on her forehead. I'm protective of her and want people to know she's mine. But she isn't really. I haven't asked her to be my girlfriend. Did I want her to be my girlfriend? Man I needed to figure my shit out.
"Happy birthday Sam" I tell her as she stands next to Daniel with his arm wrapped around her.
"Thanks Hunter" she says smiling happily at me.
"Hey man" Nate says to me as he reaches his hand out to shake mine. His tone suggests we are friends and Grey did tell me we had met before and had hit it off. It was weird meeting someone who already knew me. Who already had all the memories of meeting me and talking to me. Who already considered me a friend when he was a complete stranger to me.
"Hey man" I say back as I take his hand. If he's as important to Grey as she said he is I want to make a good first impression or rather a good second first impression. "It's Nate right?" I ask just to make sure.
"Yea" he says with a smile.
"Why don't we all go inside?" Grey suggests as she gently touches my arm. I wish I could hold her hand like I want to but these stupid crutches got in the way of that. I really need the next few weeks to fly by so I could finally hold her hand as we walked down the street. As I think this I'm momentarily stunned because I haven't thought about my future since the accident. I've just been living day to day but now I'm thinking about weeks into the future. What shocks me more is that my future plans are not just about me but they include someone else. They included Grey. It scared me that I wanted a future with her, but when I looked at her I had all sorts of plans.
Once we are inside we are seated immediately after Grey gives the hostess the name she left for the reservation. We are seated in a back room that is more secluded from everyone else in the restaurant and I can see that Grey has spared no expense for her best friend and I briefly wonder how a college student has managed to afford a private room at a restaurant and rent out a bar for the night. Maybe she had rich parents. I knew what that was like, at least before the accident that made my father want to disown me.
