Grey:
Today is Hunter's birthday and I'm super excited. I know I'm definitely more excited than he is. I felt so bad when he told me about his dad and why he hates his birthday. I hated mine now too but for an entirely different reason. Hunter's life was worth celebrating and I was going to make sure he damn well knows it.
It took a little coaxing for me to get Nate to come. I could tell he was still a little mad at Hunter for what happened, but I explained to him how it was important to me that he be here so of course he agreed. It was a little evil of me, but I know he would do anything to make me happy. It was the big brother instinct in him.
Hunter and I spent the night at his place last night so we could be alone and then I took him out to breakfast this morning. He fought me on letting me pay but I demanded that he let me since it was his birthday. I eventually won. We spent the rest of the afternoon together just relaxing and laying out in the sun together on the Harvard campus. We even brought a book and read to one another for a while.
While walking home I look up at him and his stoic expression admiring his beauty in the sunlight and ask, "So are you having a good birthday so far?"
He looks down at me and smiles. "The best."
He walks me the rest of the way to my apartment but then we have to part so I can go get ready for the night. I really wish he could just hang out in the apartment till I'm ready but I have a feeling Sam will not allow it, besides Sam and I are going to decorate the apartment for when we come back later.
"Alright" I sigh. "I guess I'll see you in a little bit?"
"Yes" he says as he smiles down at me. "Have fun with Sam okay?"
"That's a joke" I laugh. "You know I love Sam to pieces but getting ready with her is like boot camp almost."
"True" he laughs with me. "I'll miss you" he says as he knots his fingers in my messy hair.
"I'll miss you too" I say as I reach up to press my lips to his. "Have fun with Daniel" I tell him as I pull back.
"I'll try" he smirks back at me.
I watch him as he walks away and once he's gone from my view I head on inside. When I open the door I see Sam and Nate sitting on the couch together laughing about something.
"Hey guys" I say.
"Hey!" Sam yells excitedly like she hasn't seen me weeks.
"Hey Grey" Nate says as he smiles warmly at me.
"Where's the birthday boy?" asks Sam.
I give her a puzzled look. "He just left to meet Daniel" I say.
"Well I know that" she says exaggeratedly. "I'm just surprised he didn't come in to say hi."
"Didn't you tell me he wasn't allowed in?" I ask still confused.
She rolls her eyes at me. "Jeez Grey you take everything so literally. You could have let him come in for a bit."
I just shake my head and move on. "Okay so where are the decorations?"
"In the kitchen" Sam says as she springs up. "Nate and I got all sorts of cool stuff."
"I'm sure Nate had so much fun decoration shopping" I say sarcastically.
"So much fun" he dead pans as we exchange a look.
"Be nice you two" Sam says with her back still to us. "Or I'm withholding all the decorations."
"We're kidding" I say laughing. "Show me what you guys got. I appreciate you doing this for me."
Sam goes on to show me all the decorations she and Nate bought and I have to admit she went all out. There are balloons, streamers, poppers, confetti, etc. You name it she bought it. Not to mention the copious amount of alcohol they bought.
