Ten years later

Grey:

I'm driving home after a very long day at the hospital and I feel exhausted, but the idea of coming home and seeing my husband helps to make everything a little bit better. As I pull up to our house I take in its beauty as I have hundreds of times before. It's so breathtaking. I remember the first time I saw it and how I was actually left speechless.

"Hunter" I breathed as we pulled up to the house. "You didn't" I say in complete shock as I look over at his smug smile.

"I did" he says glowing.

The house was identical to the one I had him draw for me six years ago. It was my dream house. Every detail was there as far as I could tell. There was the front porch with the swing and the balcony coming out of what I assumed was our bedroom. There were the big windows and high ceilings in the living room and a beautiful pond outside surrounded by flowers. It was everything I had ever dreamed of and Hunter made it into a reality.

"It's perfect" I whisper in wonder fighting back the tears I feel building.

"Well I'm glad you think so since this is our new house" he says smiling at me. My breath catches as I hear him say that it's ours. I obviously suspected as much but hearing it out loud made it all real.

"I love you Hunter" I whisper. "Thank you for this."

"I love you too" he whispered before picking me up and carrying me inside our new home and making love to me.

I snap back to reality as I hop out of my car suddenly feeling refreshed and I break into a run as I head to the front door. When I open the door I try to be as quiet as possible since it's late as I run upstairs to find my husband. It doesn't take long before I find him hard at work in his study.

His face breaks out into a glorious smile when he sees me. "You're home" he whispers as he stands to embrace me. "How was work?"

"It was a long day" I admit as he pulls me close to him.

"Well I'm sorry to hear that" he says. "Anything I can do to make it better?" he asks with a wicked gleam in his eyes.

"I think I have a few ideas" I say giving him a seductive smile and before I know it he's kissing me.

We are about half way through ripping each other's clothes off when we both hear little footsteps coming down the hallway.

"Mommy?" I hear a soft voice call from what sounds like my bedroom which is only two doors down.

Hunter and I untangle ourselves and fix our clothing before exiting the room. "Hey sweetie" I say as I scoop up my little boy.

He rubs his sleepy blue eyes as he looks up at me. "I had a bad dream" he whispers and his little voice trembles.

I pull him in even closer wanting to protect him from everything even the bad things in his dreams. "It's okay" I whisper. "It was just a bad dream. You're safe now."

"Will you come lay with me for a few minutes?" he asks.

"Of course" I say as my heart swells from how much I love this little boy.

"Daddy too?" he asks as he looks over my shoulder at his father.

"Sure thing buddy" Hunter says as he looks at both of us lovingly.

The three of us then walk to our son's bedroom and once we are inside we double check to make sure all the monsters are gone before we all crawl into our son's very tiny bed. It's actually pretty comical to see Hunter try to fit his 6 foot 2 inch frame into this bed, but like the good father he is he never complains.
