Hunter:
As I walk with Daniel over to Grey's apartment to meet her sister I feel like I might pass out. I'm so fucking nervous. I really hope she likes me. I need her to like me. Girls like Grey don't handle it well when their family doesn't get along with their boyfriends. Grey told me not to worry and that she'll love me no matter what, but I can't help but fear that she won't. I can't lose Grey over this. We finally just got to a good place. I'm just gonna have to be on my best behavior and prove to her sister that I'm the kind of guy that Grey deserves.
"Dude, you look like you are going to pass out" Daniel says as Grey's apartment building comes into view.
"Thanks man" I say sarcastically.
"Stop freaking out. You'll be fine" he says like it's just that easy.
"I'm sure you wouldn't be saying that if you were in my shoes" I shoot back.
"Yea, but I'm not in your shoes" he says as he laughs and I actually crack a smile. "But in all seriousness I don't think you have anything to worry about. If her sister is anything like Grey then you know that means she's one of the coolest girls out there."
I smile. "Grey said her sister is actually a lot like Sam."
"Seriously?" he asks as he raises an eyebrow. When I nod he laughs and says, "Well in that case I think we are all in for an interesting weekend."
I laugh along with him for a few seconds before panic settles back in my gut. What the hell is the matter with me? I was able to jump in front of a car for this girl. If I could do that I could handle meeting her sister. I needed to man up and get over this fear.
That's what I tell myself the whole way up the stairs to her apartment, but when I finally reach her door I can't bring myself to knock. God, I'm a pussy.
"Dude, just knock" Daniel says as he shoves me.
I'm about to tell him I need a minute, but before I can Grey opens the door and beams at me. When she smiles at me like that all my nerves fade away and all I can think about is how much I love her.
"Hey" she says happily. "Come on in guys."
Daniel says hello to her before walking inside but I can't seem to get my feet to move even though my nerves feel like they are gone.
"Hunter?" I hear Grey asks as her features fill with concern. "Are you okay? You look a little pale."
I take a deep breath. "Yea I just need a second."
She takes a step towards me closing the gap between us. "Don't be nervous. I love you no matter what okay? Even if my sister hates you, which I seriously doubt."
I look at her amazed at how yet again she seems to be able to read my mind, and tell me exactly what I need to hear to help ease my mind. "I love you" I whisper as I lean down to kiss her gently.
When I begrudgingly pull away she smiles up at me and says, "Come on, let's go meet my sister."
I take her outstretched hand and then follow her inside. As we walk towards the living room I see Sam and Daniel sitting together on one couch talking to a beautiful blonde girl sitting on the one opposite them. That must be Ashley. I recognize her from the pictures in Grey's room. Her and Grey don't look anything alike but she's beautiful in her own way. She's beautiful in that obvious sense, where she could be seen on the cover of sports illustrated. She actually looks a little like Jess and it shakes me up for a second.
Grey holds my hand as we stand at the foot of the living room and she rubs soothing circles on the back of my hand. I focus solely on her touch as I try and calm myself.
