We made our way to my house again and Cedric bombarded me with questions but I didn't mind, even if some of them were stupid. He's lucky he's cute.
"Can you fly?"
"No,"
"Can you shape shift?"
"Oh my god no,"
"Can you breath under the water,"
"..."
"Wait, seriously?"
"I told you it's a mystical creature that has to do with the elements! Water, fire, air and earth. I can do stuff with those four,"
"But why can't you fly then?"
I groaned but Cedric just laughed and pulled me closer.
"Who would've thought that little Lia could be even more special than she already was," he said as we got closer to my door.
I blushed, a rare occurrence, and avoided his gaze.
"I'm not special," I mumbled.
Cedric let go of me but pinched my cheek, causing me to glare at him.
"Don't pretend to be humble, you just controlled the weather," he said. I rolled my eyes playfully.
"We're wizards, Cedric. All of us are special. Yes, I can do some fancy Chinese stuff others can't but you can do a lot of things I can't! Put me on a broom and I'm lost," I said, making him chuckle.
In the nightlight he was even more good looking. The way he laughed, his eyes crinkling and shining. He had grown so tall over the last year that I had to bend my neck to be able to look up to him and oddly that height difference made me feel fuzzy and warm.
Cedric eventually stopped laughing but kept a smile on his face. We were standing directly in front of my door now but neither of us moved. We were just looking at each other, lost in our own heads. (and perhaps each other's eyes)
"Lia," he suddenly said and I swear by Merlin that my name never sounded that good before.
"Hm?"
"I don't think I should tell you this but you have gotten really pretty," he said, his eyes focused on me unnervingly.
My words got stuck in my throat and I just looked up at him with big eyes. Cedric moved forward, just a step. Then another one. And another. Eventually he was standing right infront of me and my heart was beating so hard it felt as if though it wanted to jump out of my chest.
Cedric moved his arm up and eventually one hand was cupping my cheek, his thumb gently gliding over the skin.
"Cedric, I-" I began yet stopped when I noticed how he was moving his head closer to mine.
Was he... was he going to kiss me? It couldn't be. I was Lia, his best friend's little annoying sister. He saw me fall off my broom more times than I could count. He saw me during that one Christmas when I had to wear that really ugly dress and had gotten eggnog over myself. He had to endure me dancing around the house or listen to me insulting Johnny with big words he didn't understand. He wouldn't kiss me... would he?
Shit, I think he might.
His face was mere inches away from mine and I was already closing my eyes as if I was on autopilot. I felt his hot breath ghosting over my lips and moved my chin up so it could meet his li-
And in that exact moment the front door opened, causing us to shriek apart.
"Ah Ms. Kim, Trina is so glad you're back! Lord doesn't like it when his daughter is walking through the fields at night, especially during a thunderstorm! Oh, Mr. Diggory, why are you back?" the house elf, looking between us.
Cedric's face flushed crimson and he looked between me and Trina, stumbling over his words.
"Um.. Well, I.. You know.."
"He met me on his way home and accompanied me," I explained to Trina who clapped excitedly.
'and then he tried to kiss me...' I added in my mind, still not comprehending what had just happened.
"Yeah! That's it! I-I brought her home and, um, now I'm gonna leave. Bye!" he said quickly.
I blinked and he was gone. That coward had seriously appareted right after trying to kiss me!
I clenched my teeth and walked by Trina without a word.
It was one thing to fluster me, that I could forgive. But just leave me there?
I was definitely going to make him regret this.
