"Professor Moody was right to turn him into a ferret,"

I rolled my eyes and sighed,

"Not this again, please," I begged.

These past weeks had been ordinarily beautiful, Ron was back with Harry, school went fine. Everything was great. one exception: Cedric and Draco were absolutely obsessed with each other.

All I knew was that they've had 'a talk' and ever since then they seethed each other and no one would tell me a thing.

It was annoying. Not only did I feel left out but like there was something going on above my head that I couldn't point a finger on. Draco had gotten more ridiculous with his demands - he wanted me to do his homework, fetch him books for the library or convince the house elves to bring him snacks. I did none of those things and he didn't complain about it, just kept teasing and threatening me more and more.

"I'm sorry," Cedric began.

We were sitting at our usual spot in the forbidden forest, Cedric leaning against the tall tree that has been pink ever since I turned it. I was wrapped in a blanket, the cold December air far from lovely.

"But I just can't stand the guy. I don't want him even near you," he pouted and I chuckled.

"This wouldn't be a problem if we'd just... tell people," I said with a shrug. I tried to sound casual but actually I've wanted to talk about this topic ever since the big news came on.

There was no reply and I looked up from my book. Oh no. Still a sensitive topic.

"We truly can't, Lia," Cedric said, sounding asparated.

I bit my lip and looked down. This wasn't the answer I had been hoping for.

"I just thought... with the Yule Ball and all... "

The big news. The Yule Ball. Everyone, including myself, was extremely excited about this. It would happen in a few weeks during Christmas and everyone was eager to find a date. I had been asked by multiple people but in the end I turned them all down. There was only one person I wanted to go with.

Cedric sighed and took my hand,

"We can't go together," he said softly. I looked up to him with a frown.

"But-" I began before cutting myself off.

He wasn't suggesting that...

"Does that mean you want to go alone?" I asked sharply. He better say yes.

Cedric bit his lip and avoided my gaze,

"I thought we should go with friends or something," he said.

I huffed,

"We're too hot to have friends, Cedric. If we go there with someone everyone will think we're dating them! They'll think it too!" I complained.
