"May I talk to you?"
Oh. This was odd.
Dinner had just ended and the entire school was making their way to their dormitries when someone had suddenly grabbed my elbow as I was in the middle of walking up the stairs. It was Cedric, who was now looking up to me with his bright green eyes.
I didn't know what to say so I just excused myself to Daphne and followed him, Cedric never letting go of my arm as we walked away from the masses of students.
"Cedric, where are we even going? Do you know how far away we are from the Slytherin dorms? I don't even know where I'll room! I gotta get back," I said, stopping in my tracks. We were in the middle of an empty hallway, only a few chatting ghosts present.
Cedric turned around and sighed. He seemed irritated, his brows furrowed...
"Is everything okay?" I asked, stepping a little closer to him.
"I.. well..um. No, actually," he confessed, avoiding my gaze.
"What is it?" I asked in worry, gently placing my hand on his arm.
"You made quite the entrance, didn't you?" he said, laughing awkwardly.
I crunched up my nose,
"Dumbledore used me as his transition in front of the whole school. I thought my face was going to explode," I complained.
Cedric chuckled, still avoiding my gaze.
"I saw that. You looked cute," he said.
I bit my lip. Don't say anything. Cedric just talks like that, giving compliments to his left and right. I had gotten accustomed to it. Well, I tried to.
"I just noticed how you were noticed.." he continued. He seemed all squeezy and uncomfortable in the way he was itching his ear or biting his lips from time to time.
"Did you have too much pudding? You're being weird," I asked, squeezing his arm. He laughed and looked down to my hand before sighing.
"Almost everyone at my table talked about you. At every table, I think. Well, before the Beauxbatons students came," he said. His eyes were still on my hand on his arm and suddenly he took it in his own. My eyes widened for a fraction but I tried not to think too much of it. It had taken the entire summer to get back to normal with Cedric. I wouldn't just lose it.
Cedric seemed to be in thought as he played with my fingers, with the rings that were on them while he still did not look me in the eyes.
I cleared my throat, trying to look at everything that wasn't him.
"Um.. are you going to participate? In the tournament?" I asked pitifully, trying to fill the silence that had stretched between us.
Cedric smiled at my hand in his and finally interlaced our fingers, pulling me closer to himself. Our chests were almost touching and I looked up at him with big eyes.
"I'm thinking about it, yeah," he said, smiling.
Okay, what in the fuck was going on.
"Cedric, what-"
"You shouldn't date, Lia," he suddenly said, interrupting me.
My eyebrows shot to my hairline.
"Excuse me?" I asked pointedly.
"I didn't hear what these 3 Slytherin boys wanted from you but I could guess," he continued as he held my gaze.
"You're young. Just don't let all these boys get to you, okay?" he said.
For a moment my mind was blank and I just stared up at Cedric dumbfoundly. Then, my confusion was exchanged with anger.
"You don't want me date someone because of what?" I asked again.
Cedric sighed and clenched his jaw before speaking up again.
"You're young, Lia. You don't know anything about boys. Don't date them just because they're giving you attention," he explained in a calm voice, like he was explaining something to a child.
I snorted and shook him off me, taking a few steps back.
"Do you think I'm some sort of dumb child? Or a Nun?" I hissed, crossing my arms infront of my chest. Cedric's eyes widened.
"I-.. No, of course I don't!"
"Ah," I said curtly.
"So let me get this straight. You don't want to date me but you also don't want me to date other boys, right?"
"This has nothing to do with my feelings, Lia. I just don't want you to get hurt!"
"Wow," I said, laughing afterwards. It wasn't heartfelt laughter.
"Lia-"
"What in the world gives you the right to tell me what do to?" I hissed.
"I'm just looking out for you!"
"Oh fuck off ,"
"Lia!"
"Do you expect me to wait for you like I'm some obedient dog until you grow the balls to ask me out? Well let me tell you that - I won't. And even if you truly have no feelings for me at all, it is still absolutely none of your business what I do. If I screw the whole damn school that's none of your business so get your head out of your ass and don't talk to me again! " I shouted before turning on my heels and storming away.
